Thank you, BetsyH! 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ending to This Series Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020 Verified Purchase... I really enjoyed reading the complete series. Even though the events were fictional, the setting and the life the cadets led was based on fact. It was very eye-opening to me. Our son actually was a plebe the same year that was the setting for the heroine"s 'cow" year. He left West Point after that year after realizing that the Army way of life was not for him. He told me very little about what he experienced during that year at West Point and said he would never be able to talk to me about it. This series of books helped me to understand exactly what he went through that year and why he felt he could not stay there for 3 more years. I can"t begin to imagine what it must to have been like to have been a woman at West Point during those first few years after women were finally admitted. These books, while fictional, definitely had a grain of truth throughout the entire series. I"m so glad that the author finally wrote about the "firstie" year of Jan. It brought her 4 years at West Point to a conclusion. It was good to see a positive resolution to her final year. I read the author's notes and saw that the episodes depicted in the books had some real life basis. I would enjoy reading more books by this author. She writes very well.

Thank you, Nancy! Nancy Bowen 5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, compelling and hard to stop reading Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2020 A wonderful final chapter to the outstanding four book series. Obviously written by someone who lived through and understands the challenges of cadet life, this book grabs and holds you from beginning to end. I bought this one just prior to going to the farm with the intent of reading in the evening. Once I started, I could not put it... down and read it all in one sitting. It’s well deserving of the accolades it has received. Great job, Susan. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W6GBD24

5 Star Review from Readers' Favorite Book Review! Reviewed By Rabia Tanveer for Readers’ Favorite Fall Out: Courage Always Stands its Ground is the fourth book in the Gray Girl series by Susan I. Spieth. Hoping to end her final year at West Point on a high note, Cadet Jan Wishart wants to avoid trouble. She is a hard worker, tenacious, and the best at what she does, so she has high expectations for when she will graduate. However, her dreams are in danger of becoming nightmar...es. It seems as if her friendship with Dimitri will cost her a lot. She trusted him, but when things go south, it is Jan who is stuck in the middle. Her whole career is now at stake before it can even begin. Jan has to fight for her rights, stick to her training and prove she is innocent before it is too late. Can she do that? Or will her troubles finally catch up to her? Oh, this was a ride. Jan is a firecracker; she is feisty and she knows it. Perhaps this is the reason why she is a magnet for trouble. The relentless fast pace and the momentum of Fall Out had me hooked the moment Jan was introduced. I didn’t like Dimitri; he was too sarcastic and sharp for my liking. I loved Jan’s dialogues and how shrewd she was. I enjoyed how Susan I. Spieth kept the mystery going, how seamlessly she involved Jan in the mess and then allowed her to dig her way out of it. Although I haven’t read the previous novels in the series, I had zero issues connecting with Jan and rooting for her. The descriptions are vivid, the mystery gave me an adrenaline rush and I bulldozed through this story in a single sitting. This is entertainment at its best. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W6GBD24

Woo-hoo! Fall Out made the Eric Hoffer Grand Prize short list and e-book fiction first runner up! Fall Out, Susan Spieth, Amazon - With a strong narrative voice, compelling characters, and a window into a formerly very private worldthat of the female cadet at West Point in the early 1980sSpieth delivers a gripping new installment in the Gray Girl series. Although the narrator never questions the hierarchy, she does prove the power of those early women in terms of tenacity and fortitude. The story sounds like autobiography, and while the author is indeed a graduate of West Point in those years, the events are of her imagination, proving the verisimilitude of the fascinating, internecine narrative. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W6GBD24

Thank you, LadyLion44! LadyLion44 5.0 out of 5 stars Saved the best for the last Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2020 The forth book in the Gray Girl Series and probably one of the best. Susan takes her readers on a ride that kept me reading til the end. As with all of the books in the series, an interesting look into what it must have been like to be on the front lines of women accepted to West Point in the 80's.... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W6GBD24

Thank you, Robin! (I think I know who you are..) Robin, I-1 5.0 out of 5 stars For Excellence We Strive - Gray Girl #4 excelled! Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2020 I loved all the books in the Gray Girls series, and this 4th book did not disappoint. The author manages to perfectly capture the essence and emotions of a female West Point Cadet in the 1980s in pithy, direct prose that makes you want to read this book in one sitting. As a female cadet during this tim...eframe, I found myself thinking as I read: "Yes, that's how I felt", or "Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that." The author puts on paper what few of us could so eloquently describe about life as a female cadet. And, she is able to make us laugh, cry, and keep us in suspense until the very end. This book (and series) is not just for West Pointers - it is for all those who want to know what happens inside those gray walls on the Hudson River. Many thanks to the author for sharing a piece of her personal journey while entertaining us with this wonderful Gray Girls seres. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W6GBD24 See more

Thank you, J. Olson! (I had to Google Immelmanns!) 5.0 out of 5 stars Great read that introduces a new world. Reviewed on April 18, 2020 A good, fast, enticing read. The author (having lived through 4 years at West Point ) knows her subject. But more importantly she can pull you into it as well. The plot has twists, turns, and even Immelmanns. I think all 4 books will be a good read.... https://www.amazon.com/Area-Bird-doesnt-alway//ref=sr_1_1
