From PennDOT: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 9, 2021... Route 11 Reconstruction Project Set to Begin in Bloomsburg, Columbia County Montoursville, PA Motorists are advised that preparation work for the upcoming Route 11 reconstruction project will take place next week in Bloomsburg, Columbia County. On Monday, April 19, temporary traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of Route 11 (Main Street) and Market Street and the intersection of Market Street and Sixth Street. Motorists can expect single lane conditions with flagging in the areas where work is being performed. On Monday, April 26, phase I is tentatively expected to begin. Traffic will be detoured around the work area, which will be located on Route 487 (Poplar Avenue) between Peach Avenue and 6th Street / Columbia Boulevard. The following detours will be in place. Traffic wishing to remain on 487 will use Fort McClure Boulevard, Market Street, Main Street, back to East Street. Route 487 and Route 11 truck detour will use Fort McClure Boulevard, Market Street, and Main Street (Route 11). Route 487 and Route 11 car detour will use Fort McClure Boulevard, Market Street, and East 6th Street. HRI, Inc., is the primary contractor for the $6.8 million reconstruction project, which includes drainage improvements, roadway resurfacing, tree removal and replacement, new concrete curb and sidewalks, traffic signal upgrades, highway lighting, and other miscellaneous work. Work on this project is expected to be completed in October of 2022, weather permitting.

Subject: Coronavirus Update/Social Gatherings The Bloomsburg Police Department would like to remind anyone who is considering gathering for any social events of Pennsylvania’s Governor and Secretary of Health Stay at Home Order. Additionally, guidelines by the CDC and the PA Department of Health prohibit the gathering of more than 10 persons. The Town of Bloomsburg issued a Disaster Declaration on March 16, 2020. The Bloomsburg Police Department takes the health and safety of the Bloomsburg community seriously. This coming weekend is the time when Block Party would traditionally occur. Block Party is not sanctioned by the Town of Bloomsburg or Bloomsburg University. Due to the serious nature of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Bloomsburg Police Department is notifying any persons who attempt to gather in groups to expect a quick, zero tolerance response by Bloomsburg Police Officers. Any violation of the law will be enforced to the fullest extent possible. Any persons found gathering will be dispersed using whatever means necessary. Bloomsburg Police will provide Bloomsburg University officials with the identity of Bloomsburg University students who host any gathering along with those who are cited or arrested. Bloomsburg University has assured us the student code of conduct will be enforced on those students who are in violation while the Town’s Disaster Declaration is in effect. It is hoped that everyone will respect the Bloomsburg community’s desire to keep Bloomsburg healthy and safe. Traveling to Bloomsburg to gather for any event could endanger the community. The Bloomsburg Police Department is asking property owners or landlords to communicate to their tenants the importance of not hosting any social gatherings. The Bloomsburg Police Department has no desire to disperse groups or arrest persons who are gathering, but we will do what is necessary to maintain the health and safety of our community.

When stocking up for #SocialDistancing, if an item has a WIC symbol beside the price, get something else. People who use WIC to feed their kids can't switch to another brand or kind of food. If a store runs out of WIC-approved options, they will go home empty-handed.
