Solving Philly’s urban heat issue will take many organizations collaborating for creative action like the City's urban forestry planning, which is supported by Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the William Penn Foundation. The Trust for Public Land's #HeatResponsePHL is working with the City and other partners to elevate community voices and drive more positive action like this.

Communities across Philadelphia are on the front lines in the fight for action against climate change. At a Nov. 1 Day of the Dead celebration, Fairhill community members will be working with The Trust for Public Land artists and Casa de Duende's David Acosta at Iglesias Garden to discuss the disproportionate effects of climate change through creative expression. This #WastelessWednesday, we're celebrating that over the next two years, the City will pursue several projects to tackle food waste citywide, made possible by the support of two separate funding and technical assistance awards from NRDC and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Details

The Philadelphia Department of Commerce recently kicked off the PHL Taking Care of Business Clean Corridors program, which will expand the City's corridor cleaning program from 49 areas up to 85 areas citywide. This initiative is a $7 million investment in Philadelphia communities through the beautification and support of commercial corridors and the businesses that are located in them.
