Get to know FCLS. This little reader’s mom is Jill...whom you may know from any one of our branches. Jill has filled myriad roles at FCLS. Jill makes it her mission to get quality, informative (and entertaining) materials into the hands of Franklin County library patrons. She has a passion for knowledge and community. ... Jill’s daughter (in the photos) loves adventure, exploring new things and ideas, and reading! Who doesn’t love Grover and The Monster at the end of this Book??

Inseparable from computers since the age of two, Sophia Brueckner believes she is a cyborg. As a software engineer at Google, she designed and built products used by tens of millions. At the Rhode Island School of Design and the MIT Media Lab, she researched the simultaneously empowering and controlling aspects of technology with a focus on tangible and social interfaces. Happy musical Thursday! This week’s tune is an old cowboy ballad called The Streets of Laredo, which itself was based on an even older Irish folk song entitled The Unfortunate Rake. It’s an admittedly sad one, but cowboys seem to be into that sort of thing, and thankfully Hank has some animal friends to keep him company. Hope you enjoy!

Happy musical Thursday! This week’s tune is an excerpt from Edvard Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King. The original piece was written to accompany a scene from a play featuring goblins, gnomes, and trolls, so it makes sense that it’s often heard around Halloween! Hope you enjoy!
