Liquid Crystal Light - LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Crystals are used in the screens of many electronic devices such as laptops, computer monitors, & mobiles phones which use an LCD display. Both kinds of displays involve the use of a panel consisting of 2 layers of sheets of polarizing material with a crystal solution in between. Upon the passage of electric current through it, the passage of light from behind it is controll...ed, which results in the production of colors on the screen of your TV or monitor. LED differs from general LCD Monitors/TVs in that LCDs use fluorescent lights while LEDs use those light emitting diodes. Also, the placement of the lights on an LED TV can differ. The fluorescent lights in an LCD TV are always behind the screen. On an LED TV, the light emitting diodes can be placed either behind the screen or around its edges. The difference in lights & in lighting placement has generally meant that LED TVs can be thinner than LCDs, although this is starting to change. It has also meant that LED TVs run with greater energy efficiency & can provide a clearer, better picture than the general LCD TVs.
