The algae bloom identified on June 18, 2019 has been sampled by the Harveys Lake Borough's Consultant, Princeton Hydro. "First, we confirmed that the nuisance nearshore bloom is composed of bluegreen algae (also known as cyanobacteria)." "Both US EPA and PA DEP have recommended Health Advisories (HAs) for two cyanotoxin compounds for recreational waterbodies. These cyanotoxins are microcystins and cylindrospermopsin and their recommended HAs are 4 ug/L and 8 ug/L, respectively. We tested for both of these cyanotoxins and also retested; all results were below the detection limit of 0.3 ug/L, well below the recommended HAs. Thus, based on our sampling these cyanotoxins are not an issue of concern at this time."
