Remove ice and snow from windows, mirrors, and all vehicle lights before you drive and as often as needed. Don't forget the hood and roof of your vehicle! Find more safety tips at PennDOT.gov/winter. #PAWinter

We would like to congratulate Lt. Jim McGowan on his retirement from the Montgomery County Detective Bureau today. Jim started his career in 1987 right here as a Hatfield Township Police Officer. While with Hatfield, Jim served as a Patrol Officer, Detective and as a member of the North Penn Tactical Response Team. Jim set the standard for being a Detective and his great work led to his recruitment in 2000 by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office to serve as a County Detective. Jim worked in the Homicide Unit for 21 years during which time he rose to the rank of Lieutenant of that unit. Jim raised the bar for excellence throughout his career. We wish Lt. McGowan well in his retirement and thank him for his 34 years of service to the residents of Montgomery County. Congrats Jim!!

As we look toward a brighter future, we have to pause to look back at the past. Likewise, if we fail to look back, it is very hard to move ahead. The year 2020 was a brutal year for all of us in so many ways, our relationships with people in this country took some hard body shots. I know that our local Communities have done great things in looking to build bridges. We have worked hard as a Police Department to be more aware and to learn from every experience. Hatfield Office...rs have built relationships with our wonderfully diverse residents. We are becoming more diverse from within; we are more understanding of the palette that is Hatfield. And, our hope is to continue to be better, from improving our hiring practices to receiving some of the best diversity training available. We talk with and learn from so many. That will continue. We are anxious to look ahead, but we will always have an eye on the past. Black history is American history. We can all learn from that. Thank you for standing with us and standing by us. Warm Regards, Chief Tierney

We want to thank everyone who is staying home and avoiding unnecessary travel as the roads are still a work in progress. Our Township & Borough Public Works have been out here working tirelessly throughout the storm. They deserve a HUGE THANK YOU! If you need us we’ll be out and about responding to calls for service and helping stranded motorists.
