I want to shout out the Haverford Township Police Department, about 6:40 am, while driving my wife to work our tire blew out on West Chester Pike at the entranc...e to the Blue Route. Fearing we would be rear ended in this slick road condition we called, they immediately came. They set a barrier so no one would crash into us and when Road Service took too long they willingly changed our tire basically refusing to let me do it. Thank God for good officers! See more

On Monday night, Feb 8, 2021 at the Board of Commissioner’s meeting, Sgt. Dolan was awarded a promotion to Lieutenant. Starting with the Department in 2003, Sgt. Dolan spent 7 years as a patrol officer and was promoted to Sgt. in 2012. Sgt. Dolan held many roles throughout his time with the PD, one such job was working hard as the Accreditation Manager. He was vital in this role as he helped the Department to become Accredited Police Department in the State of Pennsylvania. Congratulations on your promotion, Lieutenant Dolan. Haverford Township

So here we are, I am sure the anticipation is killing you, as I have drug this out as long as possible! Today at 1600 hrs (4pm for us civilians) I will officially sign out as a Police Officer with Haverford Township. My Law Enforcement career started 35 years ago when I became a police dispatcher for Haverford in 1984. I served as a police Officer in Montgomery county for three years and then I had the honor of being hired back at Haverford as a police officer in 1991 where I... spent the last 30 years. I was able to rise to the level of Lieutenant and along the way wore many different hats ( Patrol, Special Operations, Community Policing Unit, School Resource Unit, DARE Officer, Motor Officer, SWAT Member, Bicycle Officer, Honor Guard and a few others. I am leaving here knowing that I have obtained all the goals I had set for myself and reflect on the many great people I have encounter along the way. I would like to thank the residents of this community for allowing me the honor of being a police officer in one of the greatest communities that I know. Your support has always been evident especially during some of the most trying time this nation has ever seen. I tried to follow my personal philosophy that as a Police Officer you do not meet many truly bad people, you meet mostly good people that have made bad decisions. Following this philosophy leads me to believe that I have been able to make a positive difference for many people. I would be remiss if I did not mention the men and woman of this agency. I have come to make many friends and always felt that this was my second family. The professionalism and dedication that each and every one of the officers provided on a daily basis, made the agency one of the finest agencies in the country. It has been a pleasure working alongside these officers, I will dearly miss the camaraderie, but know that should I ever need them they will be there with no questions asked. And lastly to my family who have always be totally supportive during my career. Through every schedule change, transfer, late night call out, missed family functions, emotional overloads, promotions and DROP, Karen as been the best partner a police officer can ever have. I look forward to spending each and everyday with (working for) her! Thank to everyone for all the well wishes!
