What will this look like for you and your loved ones? This year I’m giving donations in people’s names, my family and I are doing our first year of secret Santa and limiting each person to one gift/gifter, and we’re focusing on our shared quality time!

Holidays are here and it’s common to ramp up on purchases and gifts. BUT perhaps we should reconsider?! A survey by the National Retail Federation found that 55% of shoppers planned to return or exchange unwanted gifts within a month of the holidays. The expenses incurred from reverse transaction fees, restocking costs and people’s valuable time are immense and essential to consider, in addition to the immense waste which results in returned items. How can YOU change the story this holiday? Experiences over material gifts? Donations, Secret Santa, gift lists, shopping local, supporting small businesses, practicing minimalism, time spent helping those in our communities in need. How can we think outside ourselves this year?
