Today the Hermitage and Patagonia Fire Departments said goodbye and honored former Hermitage Chief James Howard. His memory will live eternal amongst the ranks of the Hermitage Fire Department. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. He will be missed. May Chief Howard rest in peace.

The Hermitage Fire Dept would like to thank Home Depot for their generous donation of 50 smoke detectors to families in need.

The Hermitage Fire Department had a busy day. At 3am we were called to assist Sharon Fire Department on a structure fire. On arrival, found a well seated fire in the attic. Sharon, Farrell, Brookfield and Hermitage Fire Departments did an awesome job containing the fire. Around 1230pm, a power outage occurred causing single phasing which lead to 2 commercial fires. On arrival we found 2 roof top units with melting motors. Crews quickly shut off all roof top units to stop t...he motors from burning up. At 430pm Hermitage Fire Dept was dispatched to a structure fire within our first due. On scene found heavy smoke showing from the basement. Crews began an aggressive interior attack. Sharon, Shenango and West Middlesex Fire Depts were called in to assist. The fire was contained to the basement. Last night the Hermitage Fire Dept trained on over the side rescue. Command was established as followed, IC, safety officer, operation officer, division 1-patient packaging and care, division 2-topside east of incident- aerial operations, and division 3- topside south of incident, support to division 1. The patient was located in a large, deep, empty retension pond. Division 1 made patient contact and package the patient for removal. Division 2 prepared Truck 93 for a hoist of the patient to the topside. As a team, the patient was hoisted to safety. The mission was completed. Awesome job and great team work.

The Hermitage Fire Dept. would like to give a big thank you to Staples, their employees and the people who supported their fund drive. Today, Staples presented the department with 60 cases of water. Again, THANK YOU for your support.

The Hermitage Fire Dept would like to thank 8 year old Mia Bella for the card and gift card she dropped off today. She wanted to thank the firefighters in remembrance of the fallen firefighters during the 9-11-01 attack. Mia we stand with you and thank you so much for remembering us today. Let's never forget.

The Hermitage Fire Department trained for a multi vehicle accident with fire. Firefighters where faced with fire, wires down and an unconscious truck driver. Crews did an excellent job handling the situation in an expedient manor.
