A big shout out to the Lancaster County Project for the Needy for its 33rd successful holiday meal giveaway! 300 volunteers met in the pre-dawn cold at Clipper Stadium on the Saturday before Christmas and compiled and distributed 1,100 boxes of holiday meal ingredients before 8 am. The LCPN is headed up by HFLC member Tom Fasnacht from Fulton Bank. Seen in the photo are David and Sheri Wolf, who drove in from Ephrata for the second year in a row. With Sheri on disability and David's hours recently reduced at his fabricator job in Morgantown, the Wolf said they are grateful for the help at the holidays.
Another successful holiday meal distribution by the Lancaster County Project for the Needy! Yesterday this amazing group of volunteers packed and gave away 1,100 40-lb boxes with meals for 33,000 Lancastrians. Over the 33 years they’ve been at it, this equals more than a million wholesome meals keeping Lancaster families happy and healthy at the holidays! Many thanks to everyone who came out in the cold yesterday and throughout the year to make this extraordinary event happen! #LanCoProud #NoOneShouldBeHungry #ThisIsUs

Three HFLC partners -- CAP, Central PA Food Bank and Lancaster General Health -- have expanded resources for low-income individuals in Columbia Borough through the opening of a Fresh Express food pantry. Fresh produce and other perishables, including milk and eggs, will be distributed between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. every fourth Friday year-round at Park Elementary School (except for November, when it will be held on the fifth Friday). Nutrition educators and recipe ideas wil...l be available at each distribution, so customers can learn about the health benefits of fresh foods and how to prepare them at home. Many thanks, too, to the Columbia Borough School District for its help in making this happen!
