Hunter Spring Farm 08.11.2020

Sharing from Miss Lizzies personal page, a very emotional day for us here at the farm! This morning is another morning of new beginnings. I opened my front door to let my dogs out, thinking about the pony camp that will consume my day. The new children I will meet, teach, and share the farm with. The ladies that are a part of my staff today, that have become my friends. And it hit me. It is June 20th. ...Continue reading

If you see miss Lizzie coughing and sneezing this week, I promise I’m just allergic to the outside! All the absolutely beautiful fresh hay our supplier Stormy Gower PF Thundering Hill Farm has brought us plus the pollen this year are all making me very itchy this year!

Good afternoon everyone! Enjoy the sunshine today! Here’s a video about our big Elliot receiving joint injections in his hocks. Dr Kelly answers a lot of questions and shares a lot of information in this video, be sure to give it a watch! Who has ridden our big grey guy in a lesson? Who hasn’t ridden him but hopes to get a chance to take a lesson on him this summer? Who would be nervous to be on such a tall horse? Let us know in the comments!

Here’s our Diva girl getting her shots! She’s almost as brave as Dolly! If you didn’t tell us before, let us know now kids! Are you brave like our ponies for their shots, or do you cry like miss Lizzie when she gets shots?

Hi everyone! We didn’t go live, but took lots of videos of the various procedures the horses had done today. Please watch, show your young riders, and have them comment their thoughts or questions! We want to thank everyone again for helping sponsor our horses vet care - we are close to having every lesson horse totally sponsored! Check our previous post for details. In this video, Dolly is getting her blood drawn and receiving her shots. I bet she’s better for her shots than most of her riders!! Let me know in the comments kids - are you brave like Dolly or do you cry like Miss Lizzie when you get shots?

Hello everyone! We hope you are all staying safe and healthy! We are hopeful that in the coming weeks we will start to see some restrictions lifted and be able to resume our lessons by the summer. Fingers crossed! In the mean time, we will be posting some videos this evening of the horses receiving their spring shots and veterinary care! We have been so blessed to have amazing clients who have kept our beloved lesson horses fed and cared for during this quarantine while they... (and miss Lizzie!) are out of a job! At this time we have yet to receive any loans, unemployment, or government funding so we owe a huge thank you everyone who has helped us take care of the horses and ensure we have the ability to come back strong when this is over. With that being said, if anyone would like to sponsor a horse for their veterinary care for the year, we would be grateful! Our horses receive a 5 way vaccine along with a rabies vaccine and west Nile. Their shots come to $75 per horse. They also have bloodwork drawn for a coggins test. This test tests for Equine Infectious Anemia, and is a required piece of health paperwork for the horses to show or travel. The cost of that test is $45. Each horses total cost for their spring checkup is $120, plus the vets visit we pay a flat rate farm call. One of our minis, Jimmy, is also having some dental work done as an emergency as he presented with an infected and abscessed tooth just a few days ago, for which he has been on anti inflammatories and antibiotics. The following lesson horses are available to sponsor in any amount up to the total cost of their spring shots and coggins ($120): Dolly Sponsored by Annabelle & family Diva -coggins sponsored by Lyla & family; shots sponsored by Stevie Jane & family Dream Sponsored by Olivia S & family Disney Sponsored by Kiera & family Cooper Sponsored by Olesya & family Tuff $30 sponsorship by Stevie Jane & family - last one who wasn’t fully sponsored for shots/coggins! Or donations towards Jimmys dental care is also appreciated, cost unknown at this time. As you can see, we’re in for an expensive day! Jimmy edit - his total for his teeth was $50, it was a minor extraction with no sedation needed! Enjoy this throwback picture of miss Lizzie, Chase, and big Elliot at a sunny horse show last summer. Hopefully brighter days and horse showing fun is in the cards for this summer!
