Six years ago, we were grimy, intense, raw, and loud. Unfiltered and unaffected by all of the usual restrictions of the human service everything we did tasted like #Resist the start of something completely new. Ideate is an antidote to cookie cutter services, a response to a staid paradigm The people we serve are much more than numbers. The sheer passion of Ideate helped it to find an immediate audience in the marginalized and misunderstood, the Underdogs. ... Large, established organizations controlled most of the service then and now. People turned to Ideate in search of an organizational personality that resonated with their own. The Underdogs wanted something meaningful for themselves that they could control. At its heart, the origins of Ideate began with a passion to achieve something undeniably real. Ideate was and is a response to the narrow-minded, depersonalized realism of politics and socioeconomic culture. It emerged as a vehicle to address dignity and poverty, one person at a time. We committed to doing what we were told couldn’t be done for those that had never been deemed worthy to receive it. Sometimes, the traditional way of doing something isn’t always the best option. Sometimes rules really are there to be broken. Sometimes, you have to put power into the hands of those who have never had it and make an agreement to trust one another. Ideators prize once-in-a-lifetime experiences above everything else. We’re here to make the world more accessible. Call us ‘disruptive’ or ‘upstart’. Only when you do, acknowledge that today, just like six years ago, we’re not afraid to try something new. Happy Birthday, dear ones.

Meet Lindsey Wavrek. She is our hero leading the charge for equitable work in farming for those excluded from the traditional workforce. Lindsey is also an advocate for access to healthy food. Our very own Assistant Director is blazing a trail for those who need our support most.

It's time to get to know Rowhouse Grocery and celebrate partnership between our two organizations. We are going to be working together on issues near and dear to both organizations. Ideate is blessed to have their collaboration. Get to Rowhouse and shop local! Located in the 1700 block of McKean Street, Rowhouse has proven to be more than just a neighborhood market! Rowhouse hosts an educational series about healthy cooking and eating as well as offering catering and prepare...d food. Additionally, they partnered with Fooding Forward, an organization that connects businesses that have food to people that need food. Rowhouse served as a distribution center for Food Forward lunches as the COVID-19 crisis accelerated. Rowhouse has worked to serve their customers and neighbor during the increased food insecurity brought on by the health crisis and the unrest and recent protests in Philadelphia. Rowhouse fed essential workers and donated time, food and funds to support the causes that matter the most to the community they call home. Co-founders Allie, Travis, and Jen feel strongly that a neighborhood market should serve the community. With their fingers on the pulse of gentrification and changes in South Philadelphia, Row House is about making food accessible. Recently, Row House became qualified to accept SNAP benefit cards. They are passionate about reducing food waste knowing that food waste diminishes food accessibility in the long run. Another indication of Rowhouse’s concern for social justice, when Dominique Rem'mie Fells, one of Resources for Human Development's own lost her life, Rowhouse pledged a portion of their end of the week sales to Morris Home.
