This week's #FridayFeaturedAlumni is L.B. Edwards (2010). He is the Equipment Manager at VICE Media where he gets to play with the latest and greatest tools of the trade from broadcasting equipment to movie cameras. L.B.'s job offers unique opportunities like profiling public figures, meeting people in real-time news stories, supporting crews overseas, and networking with the other industry professionals to provide input on new technology. At IUP, L.B. was involved in IUP-TV... and traveled with the football team and basketball team in the broadcast truck. This taught him the hands-on skills he needed to be confident in his field now. With the pressure of deadlines and being live, his crew's motto was "solutions, not excuses." L.B. was also part of IUP Student Photography Association and WIUP-FM. The relationships L.B. formed with his mentors, professors, and peers in the #IUPCommMedia department were the most valuable thing he took with him from IUP. He says "Entering the industry with the advice and skills developed from those relationships gave me the leg up to working in this highly competitive industry."
