After over two decades in East Liberty, Jamil’s Global Village is relocating. Unfortunately, our lease is not being renewed, and consequently, we are being forc...ed to move. Jamil’s Global Village has been a part of the cultural fabric of the East Liberty community for over 25 years, the founder started out as a street vendor on Penn Ave in the early 90’s. As the East Liberty corridor has changed throughout the years Jamil’s has been committed to providing the community with a diverse array of cultural products. We are eternally grateful for the groundswell of community support. Our concerns were heard, and we were able to secure a new 3-year lease at our current location in East Liberty!!!!! As redevelopment efforts continue to push out members of our community we collectively have to work on solutions that include property ownership. Released after 6 weeks with no charges, she must struggle to keep her family together when her father is deported....
