Researchers from Jefferson Radiology recently published an article in JAMA-Oto investigating the use of machine learning to predict the risk of malignancy in thyroid nodules. This is the first use of machine learning (ML) algorithms comparing thyroid ultrasound to specific high risk genetic mutations. The results demonstrated that the algorithm performed with 97% specificity, indicating ML is an efficient and inexpensive tool that is sure to expedite the diagnosis of cancerous thyroid nodules. Conrady, MD Professor of Radiology. He received this honor at a ceremony attended by family, friends and colleagues held at Thomas Jefferson University on September 10th. Professorships are among the highest honors faculty receive, an acknowledgement of the esteem with which the institution and academic peers hold them.
