We dined out last evening at the Belvedere for Lancaster City Restaurant Week. Our meal was amazing and we felt very safe. These pics only show my cocktail and our dessert, but we did have entrees too! Dining indoors in restaurants may still seem risky to some, but we also need to balance our mental health needs with our physical health risks. And it seems like our civic duty to support our fellow downtown businesses! Where are your favorite dining spots in the county?

The office will be closed on Friday, April 2 for Good Friday. Dr. Dave and Doreen have a few open appointments tomorrow, March 31 if you want to pop in before your egg hunt or ham dinner. These city folks are heading to the bungalow for hiking and family time.

Celebrated Moderna #2 vaccine with dinner outdoors at Zoetropolis last evening. Toasted a gorgeous day and renewed sense of hope!

Here is my Friday morning view. I am reviewing how to safely massage a client post COVID as I gaze at this lyrical watercolor of a daffodil. My talented brother Doug dropped off this card this week. It reminds me that we will soon get to dig in the dirt again. It reminds me that we will be able to hug those we love again. It reminds me that we need to recalibrate to learn how to safely engage in social gatherings again. We trust in the rhythm of the seasons and cannot wait for the riotous color and freedom of warmth and spring!

After careful research (and a very striking dream for Dr. Dave that involved a large black claw reaching for him), we opted to receive COVID vaccines. We give huge kudos to LG Health for a seamless, relatively painless process yesterday. As always, it is up to nurses and support staff to get stuff done! Also, Dr. Dave and I will be sneaking out a bit early tomorrow afternoon for a Valentines getaway. (Because who doesn’t want to go to Carlisle for the weekend! We welcome any suggestions of vintage shops or great takeout restaurants in that area!)

Yep, the office is open on this snowy Monday. (That is just one advantage of living above the office!) There is a Snow Emergency in Lancaster City, so please do not park on Prince or Chestnut Streets as they are restricted. If you choose to come to town, you can park across the street in the lot associated with the post office. Please be sure to use your knees while shoveling snow, but if you do tweak your back, we have available appointments later this week! (I think I will stay snuggled in and find something to bake.)

May we have open eyes to see how our Black brothers and sisters have challenges we have never imagined. An...d may we keep our mouths closed and listen for ways to be allies without reacting out of white fragility. May we hold those accountable for their actions of racism and violence. In these times of challenge and controversy, may we stand up as real men and women. We need to do better.

So many days of 2020 felt like this first pic- like we were sliding through scary moments of unpredictability and fear. Our hope for you all for 2021 are more like the next pics. May we have fresh flowers, cozy moments, and yummy food prepared by loving hands. Happy New Year, dear ones!

The office is OPEN! Dr. Dave and Doreen will be modifying their hours over the holidays to safeguard you and their family as they come into Lancaster for Christmas. Doreen will be seeing clients through next Friday, December 18, but will then take a holiday hiatus. Dr. Dave will see continue to see patients through December 23. Both of them will be back bright and early on January 4, 2021 ready to empower you to a healthy New Year! And just a reminder that we do offer gift certificates for both massage and chiropractic. Giving the gift of bodywork is especially crucial this year as so many folks are feeling isolated and sensory deprived.

Thanksgiving 2020, like so many events of this year, will look and feel different. We will not be sitting around the table with the extended Seitz/ Jemison crew. There will be no mystery fruit nestled into the centerpiece. Our 20 lb. free range turkey is spatchcocked and will be lovingly prepared by Grace and Matt. (And we will be eating turkey till Valentine’s Day!) Instead of my mom’s delicious pumpkin pie, we are whipping up a mystery pecan pie. But some traditions remai...n. There will be my mom’s recipe for baked corn on the table. We will hear her annual poem at a socially distanced outdoor picnic on Friday. We will say a prayer of thanksgiving as we join hands in a smaller circle than usual. Football will most likely be on the television in the afternoon as we doze from the tryptophan. In a year of illness, upheaval, and so much loss, we are thankful for you, dear ones. We thank you for trusting us with your care and your stories. May you be well and stay well. (We are closed on Friday, November 27.)

This extremely attractive photo of my behind is to demonstrate some key truths. This is me doing a hard thing that I felt scared to try. This is me hiking a 4000 ft peak in the Catskills that involved climbing steep ladders to scale the side of a mountain. This is Dr. Dave calmly stating, Just go slowly. I’m right here. This is our daughter Grace yelling over her shoulder as she hiked like a mountain goat, It isn’t a matter of your ability, it is a matter of your confidence. This is what 2020 has felt like for so many of us. We have trudged through a pandemic, racial unrest, a fraught election, and potentially the cancellation of holiday events. This is my reminder to you all, dear friends. Just go slowly, we’re right here. The journey itself might not be pretty, but the view at the peak was worth every scary step.
