Governor Tom Wolf, you are the one stopping Pennsylvanians from securing shelter.

Hopefully a step in the right direction to provide shelter during this unprecedented time.

Having food, water, and SHELTER are the 3 most essential parts of human survival in my opinion. Do you agree? Unfortunately, the shelter aspect has been forgotten by PA’s governor. I’m not suggesting we open up the real estate market to what it was previously, but we do need to figure out a way for people to settle and move into their new homes so they are not homeless for the extent of this health crisis.

"Real estate agents nationally and regionally predict activity will pick back up after shutdown orders end, and the busy season will shift to the summer or fall." SRA President/CEO Jamie Ridge is quoted in this article, along with PAR President Bill Festa.

Real estate in PA can only be done virtually (if at all). Still no in-person showings, which is a good thing right now. We all need to stay home to slow the spread of Covid-19. BUT that doesn’t mean we can’t prep NOW for when this virus passes - and it will pass! Need to sell? Need to buy? What the new stimulus package means for real estate business.

From PAR's latest update: "At this time, to comply with the governor’s closure order issued to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, Realtors should stop off...ering in-person real estate services and should only offer services that can be done remotely without in-person, physical interaction." All PA businesses that are not considered life-sustaining are to close physical locations. This includes real estate offices, showing properties in person, and of course open houses. While much of real estate can be done virtually during this time (online virtual tours, e-signing contracts, etc.), we are still not sure how this will affect mortgages, title, insurance, property inspections, use & occupancy certifications, settlements, etc. There is a chance the real estat...e market could be put on hold until these restrictions are lifted. However, PA Association of Realtors is working to gain clarification on this from state legislators. This is a fluid situation and things change day to day. As soon as we have more information on what this means for the industry as a whole, and for you as buyers and sellers, I will let you know. In the meantime, stay home and stay healthy. See more
