The Wild & Scenic Film Festival will be virtual this year kicking off tomorrow, January 21st. There will be 8-12 short films featuring adventure, wildlife conservation, agriculture, water, indigenous perspectives, activism, and more. This is a benefit fundraiser for the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay who is doing important work to clean up our local and downstream watersheds. The Brubaker Run floodplain restoration at Lime Spring Square was recently named one of Storm Water Solutions Magazine’s 2020 Top Projects for its stormwater management implementation in a mixed-use development. This project could not have been done without the vision of Oak Tree Development Group, RGS Associates, B.R. The Fox Run floodplain restoration project in Dover Township achieved pollutant load reductions to fulfill obligations for York County. The project highlights the potential for large-scale restoration projects to provide a host of benefits to diverse community stakeholders, including future economic and recreational development plans. By 2022, 8 projects will be implemented to improve water quality, provide infrastructure protection and recreation improvements, while improving bio-diversity and native habitat to meet the needs of Manheim Township’s Pollution Reduction Plan. LandStudies, in coordination with the Township’s Engineer, C.S. Davidson, Inc., designed and permitted the Best Management Practices (BMPs) identified to cost efficiently achieve results. An exciting vision for the future of a 2.5 mile section of the Little Conestoga was made public last week. LandStudies has been working for the last 18 months with a team that includes the ELA Group and Steinman Foundation in an unprecedented effort to restore the stream and floodplain along this entire corridor while providing a recreational trail and open space network for the community. The Little Conestoga Blue/Green Corridor will provide significant water quality improve...ments that will help the County's efforts to address Chesapeake Bay target reductions of sediment, nitrogen and phosphorus at a scale that will be the first of its kind in Pennsylvania.
