A few weeks ago Liam was baptized and then we had a nice celebration afterwards at the @hersheycountryclub What a special day it was for our family! We chose my brother John as The Godfather and Tyler’s sister, Rebecca as the Godmother. May you keep God close to your heart Liam Charles.

Cookie dough...what cake dreams are made of!

I wanted to post this yesterday for #smallbusinesssaturday but I just didn’t get around to it. Do you ever have those days? So many good intentions but you just didn’t get around to it? Anyway... For those new to following me, I’m Katie Cakes! The main face behind this crazy wonderful little baking business I have going! A lot of my customers have commented on my catchy business name and have asked the story behind it. Well my good friend @erinjdo used to call me Katie Cake...s in college and it had a nice ring to it, but when I tried registering the name, someone in Pennsylvania already had the rights to it so I had to add something. I settled on Cakery because I knew my main focus would be cakes and I wouldn’t have all the traditional offerings of a bakery. Katie Cakes Cakery was born and officially licensed as an in home bakery in 2009! 10 years ago!! It was definitely a slow start at first but I’ve come a long way. I’m one of 6 kids-I have 4 sisters and 1 brother. We range in age from 35-17. We all grew up cooking with our mom and they’ve all chipped in to help me in some way or another over the years. I met my husband, Tyler, freshman year at Johnson & Wales University. He is truly my best friend and is my right hand man is this business, even when he doesn’t want to be. I bet you didn’t know he makes all of that delicious swiss buttercream you all love so much! We love to travel and explore new places, cook, and most importantly laugh together. When I have a bit of free time, I love to work out and have met so many of my friends and wonderful clients this way. Kinda ironic, the gym and sweets, but lots of my ladies WILL workout for cake! Health and fitness is a big interest of mine-I almost double majored in nutrition and baking in college but it was too overwhelming at the time. I also enjoy my quiet time at church every week. God has gotten my family through some rough times over the years and I’m thankful he’s a big part of my life and business. Thank you for reading if you made it this far.
