Google announced a "Speed Update" for mobile searches Web page loading speed is already a relatively small ranking factor for searches done from the desktop. Starting in July 2018, Google will downgrade "pages that deliver the slowest experience to users" on mobile devices. Ker Communications has always made page loading speed a top priority when building or optimizing websites. Small Business Owners: If you think it sucks to have to pay for SEO and Google Ads to be found online now, it just got worse. Now, the big internet providers like Comcast, Verizon, etc can choose to show only websites owned by big corporations with deep enough pockets to pay-to-play. And they can charge your potential customers more for the "privilege" of seeing something other than whatever websites the ISP chooses. . And then there is the censorship issue http://ker.fyi/2CkkFqP #NetNeutrality

How some companies buy their way into Forbes, Fast Company, and Huffpo articles in an attempt to rank higher in Google search Did you ever see a link to a company's website from Forbes, etc that seemed undeserved and out of place? Money talks. Just about anyone can bribe a writer to get a link to their own site from one of those well known sites. Think about that when you see a business website saying "Featured in Forbes, Huffington, Fast Company"... The good news is that Google knows better and it doesn't work most of the time. http://ker.fyi/2jucCQI

Pay for Play Still Common at Some of The Biggest Online Publications Hey, if you don't mind being kind of dishonest and unethical, well, "you be you". This type of thing isn't really new. It's just another in a long list of shady trends that worked until they didn't - then they became a liability. Can we stop calling buying publicity SEO? It isn't optimizing anything when you are just buying an ad. It would be slightly less lame if people wouldn't put the publications' logos on their websites saying, "Featured in..." If you didn't earn it, you probably shouldn't brag about it. Smart people know those publications are just ad farms and that's not a good look. https://ker.fyi/2KIoydb
