Your divorce and custody cases are extremely personal and private. However, many people are surprised to learn that many family law proceedings may be viewed by the public and not in actually confidential. In fact, most county courthouses (except in the age of COVID) are open to the public. That means that with some exceptions, many hearings can be viewed by the general public. http://bit.ly/2MyCg8C

Benefits to a divorced spouse from Social Security are similar to spousal benefits, except they're available to those who are no longer married. Your marriage must have lasted at least 10 years, and you cannot currently be married in order to claim divorce benefits. Like with spousal benefits, the maximum amount you can collect is 50% of the amount your ex-spouse can receive at his or her FRA. Also, you generally cannot begin claiming divorce benefits until your ex-spouse has started claiming Social Security. The exception is if you have been divorced for more than two years. In that case, you don't need to wait for your ex-spouse to begin claiming before you're eligible for divorce benefits. Read on for more information.

If you realize that the child you thought was your biological child really isn't, can you do anything about your legal responsibilities? What if someone forged your signature on the birth certificate? ** In this episode I discuss a case where there is a question about whether one parent actually signed the acknowledgment of paternity AND w...hether it even matters.
