Sad news to report. Founding member of the Soul Survivors, Kenny Jeremiah, has passed. He appeared at numerous Pennsylvania Music Expos. performing on occasion. Additional info from former KRC VP, Eddie Collins, that is not contained in the article below: His career dates back to 1962, and humble beginnings in New York, performing and recording with doo-wop vocal group, The Dedications on the Card and Amy labels. (Then came the Soul Survivors.) The new millennium brought Kenny a new audience, performing with the 'Jeremiah-Hunter Band,' working with duo 'Bittersweet,' and as a solo artist, and in 2012 he released his version of the Teddy Pendergrass hit "Only You, " followed by "Get Up, Get Down, Get Funky, Get Loose," which became Kenny's signature tune. RIP to a fine gentleman and great performer.

More about the late radio air personality, Ed Hurst, best know for his Steel Pier Radio Show. He passed last Friday. Dick Clark, once said without Ed Hurst, there never would have been Dick Clark.

Happy Birthday Freddy! Thanks for recording both the 1962 and 1986 versions. Also thanks to Chuck Barris for penning the tune!

With the recent passing of England's Spencer Davis, it is only fitting to share one of the groups songs, however a different version. Enter the Jordan Brothers a highly successful regional act from coal country, Frackville, Pa. The Spencer Davis Group version was released in the UK in April 1966 with no plans for an American release. In October of that same year the quartet decided to release it on Phillips, the label they recently signed with. Airplay was strong in Pittsburg...h, Chicago, Boston, New York. and of course Central Pennsylvania. News of their chart success traveled across the pond, and with this being in the midst of the British Invasion, the group reworked their original effort. Late in the year both versions were battling it out. The Jordan's were a six night a week local circuit act. Phillips wanted them to go on a national tour, in support of the record. The brothers weren't willing to gamble their livelihood on one record, so they backed away. They recorded 20 singles over a 32 year career. RIP Spencer Davis. See more
