LOWERYS TO CHANGE HANDS Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. is changing hands and will be known as Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Sharon Lowery said, After 73 years of a Lowery running the home, Jay, Wayne and then Rick, we have come to a turning point of not having another generation in the area to continue the legacy.... Our three grown children, our 2 grandchildren along with the two on the way are all in Louisiana, Florida and Texas added Rick Lowery. Our plan, like all proud grandparents, is to spend more time watching them grow up Sharon commented. The Lowerys shared that they have selectively chosen The Urbans to become the successors of Lowery Services. They have 21 years of experience of working in funeral service and Paul has held a license for 17 years, Stephanie will be licensed this year. Paul played a vital role at his previous employment in Pittsburgh and is well rounded in all aspects of funeral service. Paul was very active in the PA Funeral Director’s Association, serving as its President in 2014-2015. Sharon commented, We feel very confident that the Urbans will continue our family owned legacy with the same ethics and quality of service to our community. The Urbans have three girls who are excited to be in the area and have been involved by their parent’s side and especially love helping and designing in the flower shop. Sharon explained, We are still currently dotting our Is and crossing our Ts to complete the transaction however The Urbans have settled in and are currently residing at the funeral home and managing the day to day operations at Lowery Services. Paul assured, We have no intentions of making any changes to the staff or the quality of services, other than our own personal touch. In our last few months of working side by side at Lowerys we feel we have an amazing team and we all work great together. We also know and trust that, as in the last few months, Rick and Sharon will continue to be there to encourage and support us anytime we need it or have questions. Clients who have current arrangements with Lowerys are safe as all parties agree that by law, pre-arrangements will remain governed under state regulations; however, anyone with questions can feel free to contact the funeral home and speak with the Urbans or Lowerys at 570.888.2368. Rick and Sharon would like to thank the community for the on-going support and love shown to them over the years with all community endeavors and they promise to be back in the area to visit. The Lowerys encouraged the Urbans regarding the family-like community to raise their girls and that they will find the same support from the Valley and grow to love and call it home.

A MESSAGE FROM LOWERY FUNERAL HOME TO DRUG USERS AND THEIR LOVED ONES: At Lowery Funeral Home we are not here to argue if this is a choice or a disease - we are... here to say we see the other side - families destroyed and hearts broken as we prepare the bodies of those who are GONE FOR GOOD: SO LISTEN UP CLOSELY: This is not a video game people don't get up and return to life - It is brutally hard for us to watch people suffer in pain of losing someone - no one is ever suppose to bury a child, especially to an overdose! We would NEVER condone drug use however, our message to you as a user or prior user is this: YOU CANNOT FALL OFF THE WAGON AFTER BEING CLEAN AND GO BACK TO THE SAME AMOUNT YOU STOPPED WITH!!! Please read this again 3 times to understand it clearly. Our prayer is that each of you get clean and stay clean but in reality we have buried way too many who have struggled with a weak moment and said: Oh just this one time! ........ and did not realize that when you do drugs it iusually PROGESSES in stages: you start with maybe alcohol, then pot, then prescribed pills and then onto harsher things like meth, heroin etc. your body builds up a tolerance as you up the amount of drugs and various concoctions. When your body detoxes from this and you fall and take the same amount you stopped at, it can become a deadly decision that is unexpected to you and your loved ones.
