The team had a wonderful end to the semester! For example, last weekend the speech team competed in the Long Island Swing also known as the Off-Broadway Swing. This was the first in-person tournament for many of our competitors! Meanwhile, the debate team competed in the Fall Finale hosted jointly by Lafayette College and the University of Nebrask-Lincoln.... Last weekend, three members of the speech team travelled to Bradley in Peoria, IL to compete in the Norton one of the most competitive tournaments we compete in during the fall semester! The results are as follows: Kelly: 6th in DI, 6th in DUO, 6th in POE, 5th in PRO, semi-finals PERS... Jordan: 6th in DUO and congratulations to Kelly for placing fifth in individual sweeps! Hey everyone, I’m taking a less robotic approach to this post. I want to start out by saying that I’m extremely proud of everyone on this team. The contributions of each individual member are greater than just their ranks at competitions. It’s definitely been hard to portray the sense of community within the Lafayette Forensics community when all we have to show for our work is screenshots of zoom meetings and these infographics. I wanted to share with everyone reading this t...hat creating these infographics and seeing the success of our team has definitely brought me some joy. Our last vice president and officer! Jefrey Alexander ‘23, a posse scholar and a psychology major. second slide: Jefrey Alexander '23, one of our current vice presidents, is cooler than a cucumber. This is his second year ever doing forensics and he's only involved with the speech side. He enjoys speech because he likes attention; that's all. He also really enjoys the effort put into every single piece and seeing the piece slowly develop throughout the year into a more perf...ect version of itself. But mainly the attention. This year, Jefrey hopes to have the team back on campus. Being the center of attention is much easier in person. Jefrey would also like to add that he has hair now. However, he thinks he looks really good when he's bald, even though everyone else disagrees. I hope you all enjoyed this round of bios!!

Meet Yordanos Mengistu ‘22! She’s one of our debaters and vice-presidents. slide 2: Yordanos Mengistu '22, one of the current vice-presidents of Lafayette College Forensics, is one tough cookie. She has been involved with debate since her freshman year of college and knew since then that forensics was something she wanted to do all four years she was at Lafayette. She's a Government and Law and International Affairs double major. Outside of forensics, Yordanos is also the VP... of Kirby Government and Law society, a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a Student Assistant Worker at the library, and Landis representative for civic engagement council. She loves cats and dogs equally and is hoping 2021 will present us with a COVID vaccine. Two more officers to go!

Meet Luisa Gunn, the current president of Lafayette College Forensics. 2nd slide: Luisa Gunn '21, the current president of Lafayette Forensics, is one cool cat. She has been involved on the team since her freshman year and is a Gov and Law and Asian Studies double major. She's heavily involved on the debate side of forensics, but also does impromptu and extemporaneous speaking. On campus, she's also involved with Concert Band, Alternative School Break, Student Government, a...nd she's a Gateway Ambassador and Admissions Senior Interviewer. Basically, she is BUSY. However, she's excited to be a part of the team; she loves supporting her teammates and working together to prepare for tournaments. One hope she has for this year is to break at nationals!
