To celebrate Earth Day last week at the Lancaster campus and enjoy God's creation together we spent lunch and chapel/advisory time outside enjoying a sunny day and a variety of activities and "stations" set up by teachers. Stations included: meadow tea and herbs, seasonal vegetables, poetry and meditation, "green lawn mower" demonstration, fishing in the Millstream, wildflower walk, disc golf, bocce, homemade bird feeders, trash can drums, books about nature, corn hole, and math and the environment and more. It was a great event and we are grateful for all of the teachers who helped with it!

We are excited to announce that Dr. Michael Badriaki will be joining Lancaster Mennonite as the new High School and Middle School Principal, starting this summer! He is very passionate about education and LM and we are thrilled to have him join the team! https://www.lancastermennonite.org//new-high-school-middl/ Dr. Badriaki shares, Plutarch’s quote, ‘Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel’, echoes the significance of deeply educating and discipl...ing students for character development. From a faith perspective of human development, scripture encourages the reader to to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and of a sound mind (1 Tim 2: 6-7). I am fully persuaded that the elements of faith, education and community provide the opportunities for individual growth, taking responsibility, and building a robust learning community and ethos that embraces diverse outlooks. I have admiration for teachers and believe in supporting their leadership. I love working with students of all walks of life. Today is Administrative Professionals Day! Across campuses we are celebrating our administrative professionals in various ways - flowers, lunches, gifts, notes, and more. Alicia Horst, Emily Lehman, Colette Stetler, Erin Zuleta, Diane Gehman and Katelyn Workman, thank you for helping us every day to fly! We grabbed a few images today (missing Alicia and Emily) and want to publicly acknowledge everyone below! Thank them when you see them! "We gratefully acknowledge and apprec...iate LM's administrative professionals who have been on the frontlines all year managing COVID and any student parent incident that comes in the door. We appreciate how they/you care for our students, families and faculty. You make the difference at Lancaster Mennonite! Thank you! - Pam Tieszen, LM Superintendent We would like to thank Mrs. Stetler for the important role that she plays at Locust Grove as she welcomes everyone to the campus with a smile and a friendly greeting. She coordinates many details behind the scenes which help to make school operate smoothly on a daily basis. Mrs. Stetler always gives her best as she sends out regular communication to parents, gives out needed ice packs when there is an injury or follows up with many phone messages. Thank you Mrs. Stetler for how you serve us so well. - Miles Yoder, Locust Grove Principal "Mrs. Horst and Mrs. Lehman provide invaluable support to nearly all aspects of the Lancaster Campus. In addition to all of the tasks they complete to keep the school operating smoothly, their kindness and care for students and visitors in the office helps shape a culture of care that we hope defines the school." - Michael Charles, Interim Lancaster Campus Principal We are so thankful for Mrs. Zuleta and the care she shows for student bumps and bruises, creating clear COVID communications, and keeping track of all of the day-to-day tasks that keep our school running smoothly! We could not do any of it without her! - Lindsay Carson, New Danville Campus Principal Diane Gehman provides behind the scenes support for the superintendent's office, business office and marketing. She quietly supports the board, and various administrative committees and I/we are grateful for all she does to help operations run smoothly. With gratitude, Diane! - Pam "Katelyn Workman provides a friendly welcome to everyone who arrives at the LM system office in the Rutt Academic Center. We appreciate her cheerful presence, positive attitude, and readiness to offer a helping hand." - Aubrey Kreider, Christy Horst, Jon Heinly

Play gallery and recap is up on our site! LM High School performed their fall play outdoors, in front of Gym A on October 15-18, as they adapted to COVID constraints to be able to still put on a fall drama production. Attendees were able to bring their own supper or snacks and enjoy a picnic on the lawn during the performance. The play All I Really Need to Know I Learned In Kindergarten is based on some of Robert Fulghum’s best selling books. Thank you to Paul Jacobs Photography for documenting the event! and all the great images!

LM Responders Feature: Teacher Alejandro Ulloa - read his story, "Stand Up and Dialogue" and other LM responder stories in the latest Bridges or online here: https://www.lancastermennonite.org//stand-up-and-dialogue/ "When my family and I moved to Pennsylvania from Honduras in 1992, I began kindergarten only speaking Spanish. Thankfully, many of the teachers and children in my new community were very kind and accepting of me. Unfortunately, there were also a number of occasions where some of my peers saw me as an easy target and chose to put me down for being different. During these moments, I couldn’t understand the words being said, but I could clearly tell that I was being mocked. On one of these occasions, a hero stepped up for me. A kindergarten-aged hero." The 2020 Fall Festival and Homecoming may have looked different this year but was still a success! Our hearts are filled with gratitude and joy! This year, as we all grappled with many changes, we were not sure what the annual event would look like. But our LM community came together, and we celebrated over a weekend that highlighted current students and alumni and displayed your generosity and support. It was wonderful to witness, and we could not be more grateful! We want t...o thank all of the students, staff, and volunteers who made the event possible. Along with dozens of student volunteers, there were 35 parents, faculty and staff, and alumni who volunteered their time. Thank you to all of our volunteers! Throughout the weekend, you generously gave $62,170 toward the Annual Fund and Student Aid, supporting world changing education at Lancaster Mennonite. These funds were raised through business and individual event sponsorships and Cookie Kid matches, BBQ sales, Iron Bridge Run registrations, Gala-in-a-Box purchases, Cookie Kid donations, and online auction purchases. Thank you for your generous support! And thank you again to all of our Fall Festival and Homecoming sponsors!
