Aikido Center of Lancaster is pleased to offer regular training in the ancient martial art of Tai Chi. Those participating will learn basic history and background, a basic stance set, body opening, Chi Gong as well as the Yang Family long form or kata that can be practiced outside the dojo. Our regular Tai Chi practice offers beginners a chance to gain and understanding of the art and it’s martial application and offers experienced practitioners a chance to explore the Yang family long form. Tai Chi (meaning supreme ultimate, or Tai Chi Chuan, supreme ultimate fist) has been proven to be not only a means of improving one’s health, focusing on slow, gentle movements, but it is also and effective form of self defense that utilizes yielding and deflecting an opponent’s energy to defeat him/her.
