Retirement Announcement Sgt. M. Anthony Weaver After 20 years of service to the Lancaster Bureau of Police and the City of Lancaster, Sgt. Anthony Weaver has retired. Weaver is a native of Lancaster County. He graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1997. He went on to earn an Associate Degree from HACC in May 2000. On December 27, 2000 Weaver was sworn in as a Patrol Officer for the Lancaster Bureau of Police. Weaver worked in patrol until he was assigned to the Bur...eau’s Selective Enforcement Unit (SEU). Weaver worked in SEU for several years and then rotated back to patrol. Weaver served as a Field Training Officer and as a mentor for newer Officers. Many of Weaver’s supervisors recognized that he was a leader without a formal title. Weaver was always willing to take time to teach Officers as well as learn from them. In June 2015, Weaver was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Weaver was assigned as a Patrol Supervisor and worked with Officers on the street. In January 2019 Sgt. Weaver returned to SEU as the supervisor of the unit. Sgt. Weaver and SEU were responsible for investigating several high profile drug investigations and under his leadership, the unit conducted a search warrant detail that uncovered a total of (26) guns that were in the possession of a suspected drug dealer. Throughout his career with the Bureau, Sgt. Weaver distinguished himself as a tireless, hardworking Police Officer. Weaver has earned multiple commendations to include (7) Unit Citations, (9) Outstanding Enforcement, Bravery, Valor and Lifesaving. Many of the awards were for incidents where guns were seized from felons that were not to be in possession of firearms. The Lancaster Bureau of Police would like to thank Sergeant Weaver for his decades of service to the City of Lancaster. We wish him well in his future endeavors. See more
