Good news! The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued a preliminary injunction to stop the Trump Administration from denying immigrant visas to 2020 diversity visa winners. In its ruling the court ordered the administration to process all 2020 applications as quickly as possible before September 30.

Today, we announced a final rule adjusting certain immigration and naturalization benefit request fees, ensuring that we recover the full costs of services. Rev...iewed every other year by law, our fees reflect the cost of administering the nation’s lawful immigration system. We’ve also adjusted the fee waiver eligibility, filing requirements for nonimmigrant workers, and our premium processing service. For online filing, the filing fee is reduced by $10 for forms that are electronically available. USCIS is required to examine incoming and outgoing expenditures and make adjustments based on that analysis, said Joseph Edlow, USCIS deputy director for policy. These overdue adjustments in fees are necessary to efficiently and fairly administer our nation’s lawful immigration system, secure the homeland and protect Americans. GOOD NEWS FOR STUDENTS! The Trump administration has agreed to rescind a directive that would have barred foreign students from the United States if their colleges canceled in-person instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic, following lawsuits by a number of universities and states, according to a Tuesday hearing.
