Cassandra Berry, 4th grade (elearning), used her STEAM grant from last January to purchase materials for Take-Home Magnetisim Science Kits. As a virtual teacher this year, it was a challenge to put together meaningful science curriculum without hands on labs . . . so she used her grant money and assembled and sent home to her students all the materials they would need for 6 weeks of lessons. Each Friday, her students explored magnetic properties, attraction vs. repulsion, the idea of polls and their relation to the Earth and how magnetism is used in our everyday lives. Her students enjoyed the hands-on experience while doing at-home learning! Thank you Mrs. Berry for helping our elearning students get excited about science!

Ashley Bowser used her STEAM grant from last year to purchase circuit kits for her 4th grade students to create circuit greeting cards . . . who wouldn't love to receive "light up" snail mail? Prior to creating the cards, her students learned about circuits in science which helped them problem solve creating their own circuit with copper tape, a lithium battery and an LED light sticker. The students collaborated to help each other solve issues with their circuits. What a bright idea and fun way for students to put knowledge to practice! Thank you for allowing LDFF to help bring your project to light . . .

We are excited to announce our Title Sponsor for LDFF's 13th Annual Golf Outing . . . Rohrer Bus Service! We are thankful for their support and looking forward to our golf outing on April 30! In addition, Highmark has agreed to be our Eagle Sponsor (both spots). We are thrilled to have their support as they usually sponsor our Falcon Fling in January, which had to be canceled due to Covid concerns. Proceeds from our golf outing will go towards grants that benefit Lower Dauphin students. Thank you again to our local business sponsors!

LDFF grant funds are helping students at the MS! Shannon Engle, MS Reading and 21st Century Skills teacher, is using Membean, an online vocabulary program, to help her students improve their reading and vocabulary skills. The students find the program to be engaging and the data/analytics Mrs. Engle is provided helps her streamline their learning. Just another example of the awesome things teachers are doing this year . . . if YOU have an idea and would like to seek the Found...ation's help, visit our website http://ldfalconfoundation.org/in/educational-opportunities/ and send in your application--round 2 applications are due 12/21. Just a reminder, you don't have to be a teacher to submit an application--students and community members are eligible as well, as long as the grant request benefits LD students and complies with our guidelines.
