Grazie di cuore, Philly!
What a year this week has been. But the weather is beautiful, and brunch is served. Join us this weekend. (Nothing makes vote counting move faster than brioche with gelato.)
Highs in the 70s for the next few days. Seems like a good time for pasta and wine outside. (After this week, we’ve earned it, Philly.) Reservations are available, or just stroll on by. We can’t wait to serve you al fresco.
"Speranza." Hope. We think we can be better than this, that there's a future that can include all of us, with equal shares, stakes, and possibilities. We think we can take care of all our neighbors, especially during a time like this, and that any sacrifices make us stronger and richer in ways that truly matter. But we have to make it so. It will be a heavy lift and a long, long road, but it can begin today. Love to all our guests, neighbors, and staff. No matter where th...ey're from, who they love, or how they worship. At its best, this neighborhood has always been about possibilities. Thank you for your support through these tough times. We hope to be here for you for a while longer, in times both bad and good. But let's make sure they're at least better. VOTE.
Run through the tape, friends. Then come refuel with handmade pasta. We’re here for you with tents, heaters, wine, and ravioli. Be good to yourselves this week.
News from Le Virtu'
Heat Lamp Season has arrived. We’re tented, and lamped, and cozy as can be in Il Campo. (And we’ve plenty of wine, too, just in case.) Join us for safe, socially distanced outdoor dining tonight.
Due to the citywide 9PM curfew, we will be CLOSED tonight, Wed 10/28. We will update you here as we learn more. Stay safe and well, and be kind to each other. (As expected, this week has been a wild one, and it ain’t over yet.)
We hope Dr. King was right when he said "the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." But 400 years (1619-2020) is too long an arc. We've never lived in a US that, as it promised, extended equal rights and protections under the law, and equal opportunity to all its citizens. Instead, we've watched as barrier after barrier was placed in front of black and brown people, institutionalized and codified racist obstacles they've had to bravely overcome, a...nd as black lives were too often treated as expendable. It's past time to live up to our professed ideals and to honor our mission. It's time to help bend the arc toward justice. Black Lives Matter. Vote.
A cozy heat lamp for every table. Because outdoor dining is safer, but we think it should be comfortable, too. Reservations are available on the patio and in the garden 7 nights a week and both Sat and Sun for brunch. (And if you think the heat lamps are a nice way to stay warm, wait til you check out our fall menu...and Freddie’s house-made digestivi...)
We Southern Italians were once the unwanted, the disparaged, the "problem." Described as having a "pagan" form of Catholicism, tendencies toward "criminality," resistance to assimilation, and "un-American values," we inspired xenophobic movements, racist legislation, and hate. You either remember or you don't. So, we cannot now turn our backs on injustices meted out against others. It's our duty to defend those who find themselves in situations that would be familiar to our ancestors. It is a matter of integrity, decency, and pride. We must be better than this. VOTE.
We're your place for outdoor dining through the late fall and into winter: a discrete garden and patio- 75%t of it covered and safe from rain- removed from car and foot traffic, with potent, dedicated infrared heaters covering every reservable table. We appreciate your support and believe we can get through this together, as safely as possible. When you want to dine out- and experience the best Abruzzese cuisine west of the Apennines- we'll be here, keeping your seat warm.
Anarchy Wines for Weird Times: an off-the-wall wine dinner. Thu 10/29. 6PM. $95/person + tax and gratuity. Savor a multi-course menu paired with wines from our pal Sean of Artisan’s Cellar, all served at a safe social distance in our outdoor dining area. We’ll provide the tents, heaters, food, and wine. You just come (with your mask, of course) and enjoy. Reservations are available now: call 215-271-5626. Full menu, plus other news and happenings, here: https://bit.ly/Anarchy102920
