Is all this election coverage bringing up feelings of anxiety and perhaps stress? Are you not sure what to do with yourself as we wait for the results? Well lucky for you, our amazing HR Employee Engagement Specialist and mindfulness trainer, Danny Torrance has recorded a brief 7-minute mindfulness practice for you to do RIGHT NOW! We urge to be kind to yourself. Take a break and get grounded with this brief practice. Remember, regardless of what happens, we will get through ...this as we always do because we are resilient! Image Description: Man sitting in a manual wheelchair with his eyes closed. His hands are folded on his lap and his palms are facing up. The image has a pink tint. On the right side of the screen, text reads, "Guided Meditation. Take a breath, take a break, make some spaces to be still while we wait." #Mindfulness #ElectionDistraction #IndependentLiving #Disability #Phillly #SelfCare #Philadelphia #Break #Meditation #Election2020 #Grounding #Breathing #Peace

Did you know that whether or not you vote today could determine the course of services and supports you receive for the next four years? We need people with disabilities and allies to show up and vote! Vote for all the people in nursing facilities who died this year from COVID-19. Vote for everyone who has been historically disenfranchised and oppressed. Vote for everyone who has been fighting for equal protection under the law but fails to receive it. Vote for everyone who ...has been discriminated against because of their disability, race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age or religion. As the Justin Dart, the Father of the ADA said, "Vote as if your life depends on it, because it does!" Please Note! *This is PA Centered. You do not need ID to cast your vote, unless you’ve moved recently or are otherwise voting in a division or ward for the first time. You cannot return mail ballots at the polling locations. If you’ve received a mail in ballot and plan on voting in person, you must bring the entire ballot and all its contents to the voting place to surrender. If you do this, the judge of elections will have to fill out an affidavit before you walk into the voting booth. Plan ahead and prepare to wait. Bundle up, bring snacks, and other supplies you may need. Remember, voter intimidation is a crime. If you witness voter intimidation or someone intimidates you at the polls, you should report the incident to your local County Board of Elections and District Attorney.
