A new year doesn’t mean that you need a new you. The you that you are is all the you that you need. If there are any resolutions to be made, work to grow in trust, appreciation, and love for the body and person you are.

Reviving this one for the 2020/2021 transition. Maybe your feed is filled with people telling you to cleanse, transform, and reinvent yourself in some way. YOU DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE. There is no magical diet, juice cleanse, or # that is going to make you feel good about yourself.... But you know what will help you feel better? Working towards self-acceptance and self-healing. That involves letting go of transformational gimmicks, and beginning to accept small pieces of yourself incrementally. Your thighs? Your butt? Your stomach? Parts about your personality that you don’t love? Start with one of those things and see if you can work at embracing the uniqueness of it. You are worth it.

Louder for the people in the back. It’snotaboutyourbody It’s about the messages we’ve taken in over the years about how we *should* look, or *should* be, or *should* act. None of which is accurate or true to who you really are.... Work on for yourself, appreciation for your skills and talents and the things your body accomplishes each day.

Back at it after a bit of a social media break Anyone else learning this lesson *big time* during the pandemic?!?! I’m reminded of a quote that says Every time you say yes to one thing, you’re saying no to something else. So if you need permission to say no, to take the break that your body and you need, here it is. There are so many things vying for our attention, demanding our time. It’s ok to out for a bit in order to recoup and care for yourself.

#Repost @alexis_m_newman with @get_repost I love this quote! This a great concept to use when thinking about making diet and lifestyle changes. In nutrition counseling sessions with my clients, they often talk about feeling defeated when they don’t meet their food goals; if they over eat their favorite dessert, they end up saying Eff-it and finish it off, leaving them sad and frustrated or if they couldn’t excise due to exhaustion they feel like change will never hap...pen. If you can relate, take and deep breath, give yourself grace and kindness. All is not lost! The reality is that if you don’t reach your health and fitness goals right away, change can still happen. Use these perceived failures as life lessons and a time to see what your body is telling you. It’s just information rather than a failure. Just like you wouldn’t throw away an entire box of crayons for a few broken ones, you shouldn’t discard you goals! If you’d like to discuss this more, click the link in my bio and fill out the contact form for a 15 minute call. I’d love to help you in your health journey. See more

#Repost @fit.flexible.fluid with @get_repost Today the idea that weight is the main problem dogging black women builds on these historically racist ideas and ignores how interrelated social factors impact black women’s health. It also perpetuates a misinformed and damaging message about weight and health. Indeed, social determinants have been shown to be more consequential to health than BMI or health behaviors. bit.ly/SabrinaBacon... #haesincolor #BodyTrustIsABirthright #Birthright #amplifymelanatedvoices #reclaimingourtime #reclaimingourspace #centerourvoice #blackvoicesmatter #mutewhitenoise #complicatethenarrative #diversifydietetics #blackdietitian #nothingaboutuswithoutus #eachoneteachone #centermarginalizedvoices #centermarginalizedbodies #fatpositivedietitian #allfoodsaregoodfoods #allbodiesaregoodbodies #eatingdisorderrecovery #eatingdisorderdietitian #weightstigma #socialjustice #haes #intuitiveeating #bodytrust #antidiet #dietculture #antidietdietitian
