We need your help- please take this survey! Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that disproportionately affects women and certain racial and ethnic groups, including the Hispanic community. Lupus awareness is significantly low within this high-risk group and there is a need to raise awareness about lupus in Hispanic communities. http://ow.ly/F8uu50EjFN0 Nosotros necesitamos tu ayuda- toma la encuesta, por favor! Lupus es una enfermedad autoinmune crónica que afecta de manera desproporcionada a las mujeres y ciertos grupos raciales y étnicos, incluyendo la comunidad Hispana. Have you registered for the 20th Annual Living Well with Lupus Symposium yet? While we'd love to celebrate 20 years in person, this year's symposium is virtual and includes multiple panel discussions and expert speakers to help you live your best life with lupus. The event will be split up into two days: one for those newer to lupus, and one for those who have more experience with the disease. You are welcome to sign up for both events and attend any session you wish. Plus, this event is FREE! http://ow.ly/3wEo50CWtFW
Happy New Year! Wishing you a restful weekend and empowering 2021.
2020 has been...a year. Let's look back at what YOU made possible: March: Members of Congress across the nation were bombarded with letters from you advocating for increased access to hydroxychloroquine after it was erroneously thought to be a treatment for COVID-19. This all happened right after an incredible digital lupus advocacy summit with thousands of participants! May (and every day!): Inspiring others by sharing YOUR story with lupus...keep them coming!... October: Amazing virtual walks across the region, where you raised over $200,000 for lupus education, research, and support services. All year: Funding + clinical trial participation for three lupus medications made great progress and we look forward to more promising research developments in 2021. Your participation and support this year made a huge difference to the Chapter. Help us continue our mission into 2021 and make a gift today! http://ow.ly/WWQP50CVrtM courtesy of our friends at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia!
Tomorrow night: How to Create a Flare Plan (in Under 60 Minutes) will provide comprehensive resources on creating a flare plan and experts will discuss how to implement it, if necessary. Register today! http://ow.ly/EtVf50BQtfr

The Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter, is happy to share the renaming of the volunteer program to the Tri-State Ambassador program! "Volunteer" often implies that volunteers only help with specific tasks and events. But raising awareness for lupus is a 24/7 job. Your help in increasing awareness of this disease in the Tri-State area is critical to our success. Ambassador opportunities are any opportunities that carry out our mission. These include:... Posting about lupus on your social channels and tag @LupusTriState Joining the Chapter in a social media campaign Inviting the Chapter to your religious or civic organization to present about lupus Joining a Chapter committee Training as a media spokesperson Becoming a peer counselor Co-leading a support group & more! Register for the ambassador training session on November 5: https://www.lupus.org/trista/events/lfa-ambassador-training

Lupus is met with unpredictability, which often leads to stress and anxiety. Focus on what you can control, like a flare plan, which allows you to organize everything ahead of time in case of an emergency. On next Tuesday's webinar, you'll learn the effective points of a flare plan and resources to get started: http://ow.ly/I0f150BQt0q
As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close today, we want to thank those that participated in this campaign and followed along. Continue to help us raise awareness of lupus within the Hispanic community and visit our site to continue learning more about eating well with lupus.
