Today is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Please wear blue in order to show solidarity with human trafficking survivors as well as raise awareness of modern day enslavement.

As the new session of the Pennsylvania General Assembly started this week, we want to congratulate PA State Rep. Joe Hamm and Senator Cris Dush on their election and PA State Rep. Jeff C. Wheeland, PA State Rep. Clint Owlett, PA State Rep. Tina Pickett, and Senator Gene Yaw on their re-election to the Pennsylvania General Assembly. The Lycoming County United Way and our colleagues across the Commonwealth believe in strong communities and look forward to working with all of you as well as our friends at United Way of Pennsylvania in our fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community in Lycoming, Sullivan and Tioga Counties. Together, we can make an impact. Together, we LIVE UNITED. Because change doesn’t happen alone.

Please welcome one of our new Board Members, Debra Bowes! Debra currently serves as the hospital and health system sector leader for Baker Tilly’s national healthcare practice. Deb has served on the boards of directors for North Central Sight Services, YWCA Northcentral PA, Leadership Lycoming, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and Valley Prevention Services. She served as board chair for both North Central Sight Services and the YWCA. Debra is serving on the United Way board because she wants to give back to the community that she grew up in and will always be home for her. The United Way does so much to improve life for so many residents of the local community, and brings together the impressive resources we have in our community I can’t think of a better organization to be involved with.
