Today our region lost a great man. There are few men who spend their entire lives serving others. Don was one of them. Don Shambo has been a pillar of the EMS Community in the Lehigh Valley for decades. Don started his career in EMS as a teenager 45 years ago when he joined the Whitehall Fire Department, then becoming an EMT at the Whitehall Emergency Squad. Don became a paramedic in 1980 and actively served many communities across the Lehigh Valley. Don worked for LVHN MedEvac for over 30 years as a Flight Paramedic retiring last month. Don is a past president of the Lehigh County Ambulance Association.

Attention Lower Macungie small businesses! Tonight at the Lower Mac Commissioners meeting we authorized a local small business grant program funded in the amou...nt of $46,000. This program is for businesses located in Lower Macungie with 100 employees or less who have been impacted by the Covid shutdown. The grants will be awarded in amounts of $1000 or $2000 for qualifying business as long as funding remains available. The application for small businesses will go live on the township website in the next few days. After helping township small businesses was established as a priority by the Board, our staff did an amazing job in partnership with the Lehigh Valley Chamber to establish this program from scratch in a short period of time. The Chamber brought experience with these types of programs and will be providing additional administrative overhead for the program. We thank them for their help! Stay tuned for more info. If you are a small business under 100 employees shoot me a message at [email protected] and I'll make sure you are made aware as soon as the application and program parameters go live. We felt in light of state and federal government being somewhat slow in moving forward with additional Covid aid that we needed to do something. So, we decided to take action locally. We are committed to doing whatever we can in our community to step up and help. Here is where I need you! Help get the word out by sharing this post to your Lower Mac friends and neighbors!

Some records were not meant to be broken. This week, let’s all show gratitude by keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe. Today, we are thankful for everyone who changed up their holiday traditions for the sake of others. Let’s bring this number down. LVHN.org/COVID19Report.
