Mastery teachers will be providing opportunities for students to process the events in Washington yesterday. It is painful, it is raw and it is difficult for parents, educators and children to reckon with yesterday's attempt by a mob to undermine the foundation of our democracy, incited by a sitting President. Many have also noted the grossly different police response to yesterday's violent mob and the racial justice protesters this summer. As educators, we see our job as supporting your child both intellectually and emotionally with an aim that they develop the critically thinking to make the future brighter and more just. Families: if you are looking for guidance on how to have these conversations with your child at home, we recommend this resource published by Dr. Howard Stevenson at UPenn. https://bit.ly/35jW0CT
Congratulations to Raphael Warnock on becoming Georgia's first African American Senator. Born into poverty and a son of a pastor and mother who used to pick cotton, he says, "The 82-year-old hands that used to pick somebody else's cotton went to the polls and picked her youngest son to be a United States SenatorWe proved that with hope, hard work, and the people by our side, anything is possible. May my story be an inspiration to some young person who is trying grasp and grab hold of the American dream."- Raphael Warnock, US Senator https://bit.ly/396oots

We have suspended our in-school student supports at all Mastery schools. The health and safety of our students, families, and staff is our #1 priority. We must pause all in-school programs until the rates decline to below 100 cases / 100,000 people, which is the threshold for safe in-school instruction. Please check ParentSquare for more details.
