Garden keeps blooming in beautiful colors. Come and Enjoy! One of the Reading Garden's original trees had to be replaced. A new Prairie Fire Crabapple Tree was planted in September. The tree is small but we know that it will emerge in the spring with lovely pinkish-red blooms and matures into reddish-green foliage.

The Garden has been under construction for a number of years now. "When will it be finished?" we are often asked, and while it may seem slow, progress continues. We would like to extend an invitation to all to visit and see what is going on. Do not be discouraged by the construction along the front wall, the garden IS open, and consider that the blossoms, birds, herbs and butterflies can all be enjoyed in a safe open air environment. It has occurred to us that people may... not remember what was here before the garden - there are probably children who have only known it as a garden under construction. So we've decided to take these Wednesday postings to look back at the life of the project, at its humble beginnings, and at how far we've come. Here are a few photos of the early days... Next Wednesday: Before the Building Came Down

The cap on the wall has been a long time coming. Help with materials, expertise and hard work generously provided by IMAC Construction will help us finish the wall off professionally by the end of August. Pictured are Frank and Bobby preparing the form for the cap.

Part of July's work in the garden is creating a water feature. Hard work while being careful not to hurt the beautiful flowers and small creatures.

Being a pollinator is a dangerous life, especially if you are small a beautiful like a bee, moth, or butterfly . Even stopping for a drink is a risk; what if you fall in? What if you stay still for too long and get spotted by a hungry bird? Help out our friends the pollinators by adding a "bee beach" to your bird bath. Just add a hand full of rocks to one side. It gives them a safer place to stand while drinking.

On the 8th Day of Christmas my True Love gave to me Eight Maids a'Milking... The Maids represent the Beatitudes as found in Matthew's account of Jesus's Sermon on the Mount. Note some Blessings are bestowed because of who we are or what we do, but others because of what happens to us. The Beatitudes clearly demarcate those with whom God stands. Blessed are the poor in Spirit Blessed are those who morn Blessed are the meek... Blessed are those who hunger and thirst... Blessed are the merciful Blessed are the pure of Heart Blessed are the peace makers Blessed are those who are persecuted... See more
