Have you considered where people experiencing homelessness 'stay-at-home' during COVID-19? Alumna Kelsi writes about her experience as an RN supervising an Isolation and Quarantine Center (IQ) in the Seattle area. She writes "Although the IQ centers are set up for anyone who needs to use them, it’s typically only the most vulnerable individuals who show up at our doors, as they do not have adequate support systems to lean on, homes to quarantine in, or money for a hotel room for two weeks of isolation." Mercy Volunteer Travis serving in Cincinnati reflects on his experience with community spirituality night. Travis writes: "This experience has helped me to think more deeply about what it means to live for God. It has also made me think more about what it means to pray and to feel a connection with God."
Yesterday, we proudly cast our ballots and voted with Mercy. Today, we are challenged to remember our theme for this year 'Active Hope'. We hope today you are ready. Ready to discover reasons for hope, occasions for love, and the size and strength of our hearts. Together we are Mercy!
Happy Election Day! If you’re going to the polls remember to #vote safely and #votewithmercy by following these steps: 1. Wear a mask and social distance 2. Bring water, a snack, and a little patience. It might be a long wait but your voice matters! 3. If you see someone on the margins being questioned, subjected to aggressive behavior, or turned away call a hotline and report it. Hotline numbers are in our story. ... MVC is praying for all poll workers today and we’re grateful to each of you living Mercy and seeking justice by voting! #vote2020 #election2020
MVC alumna Meghan writes "Voting is all about listening; it is intentionally taking time to hear what our hearts are drawn to in seeking a more just world; it is listening to those who are disenfranchised and not allowed a voice in the voting process. It is casting a vote to say you matter, we matter, what we believe in matters. Listening with our vote is a gesture of welcoming and inclusion as we join together to recognize our shared lineage and our unique circumstances." . . . Read the rest of Meghan's blog on the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas website. Make sure to comment to let us know you plan to #votewithmercy!

MVC alumna writes "Cognizant of the struggle many people face to exercise their right to cast a ballot in this country, young people I know are willing to fight for it. We are ready for our voices to be heard. The first step is voting - in person, by mail or via ballot drop box - in the upcoming election on November 3!" . . . What's important to you when voting? Leave a comment on the blog letting us know! #VoteWithMercy #GoVote
MVC alumna Danielle Daguio wants you to GO VOTE! Watch her video below and share with your friends and family. How are you participating in election day this year? Comment below
Mercy Volunteer John writes "My service site is with AJAPO (Acculturation for Justice, Access, and Peace Outreach), a refugee resettlement agency. I do enjoy the work and I feel that it is rewarding. To be honest though, it was a rocky start. Case Management is a lot of work, and it has taken some time to get used to how things work in the Agency. I do feel however, that I am growing more comfortable with this position and as time goes by I will get better and better at it, so I am encouraged." Read more on our blog!

San Francisco Mercy Volunteer Isaac writes "I think it is my community’s sense of play that has nourished my soul the most. This ability to recognize and experience spirituality through play reminded me of a quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. In his book, The Little Prince, he writes, All grown-ups were once childrenbut only few of them remember it." Read Isaac's full blog on our website!
