I had an amazing weekend guiding Jake on Saturday and Steve on Sunday. Fished to Falling springs both day and many nice rainbows and browns were landed. Jake and I hit the Conococheague for a little and he nailed at least 10 trout in a short time span. Two great days with two great guys.

Put Jim into some nice Falling Springs trout today. Both the lower end and upper stream fished well. Plenty of midges, some BWOs but the Black caddis hatch started and trout were rising well. Jim landed around 10 and had at least that many more takes. My Simple shrimp, Mikes CDC black caddis, Mike's Baetis snowshoe emerged and my bh green caddis was all we needed. Great day on tough spring creek.

Fisher really getting his warm water flies down. He may be getting orders soon.

Despite an extremely windy day, Fisher and I got a little fishing in. We stopped by Precision fly and Tackle to talk shop talk about this year's guiding. Gonna be an amazing year..announcements to come. After that we fished the "run" and then tried Big Springs. I caught 2 rainbows and Fisher landed 2 and had five on. Set another fly anger up eggs, white flesh flies and egg sucking leeches. They gonna be use for Erie, PA steelhead.

So a friend of mine loves Letort crickets but can't see them on the water. So my solution to his problem. I simply added orange deer hair to the top of the cricket. If interested in some yourself PM me and I can set you up as well.

New fly box sets are keeping me busy. Amazing designed. Not square, they are all curved bottoms so it is so easy to pick the flies out of each compartment.

Hello Again, What a hot dry summer it has been. I have not been out much with the relentless heat spell. So I have plenty of day dates if you want to hit the Trico hatch. I drove by the Falling Springs today and saw plenty of Trico and many rising trout. Most full day trips have been ending around 1pm. But with that said there is still some great fishing to still be had. The drought has hit the freestone streams hard. The are very low, clear and pushing 70 degrees. ... I’m just staying away till fall. The springs creeks are the place to be. They are cold, clear and 53 to 64 degrees. So, summertime hatches are Tricos and terrestrials and the norm. The Trico hatch on Falling Springs is doing well. Trout are sipping off the surface come 8am. Follow that with offerings of terrestrials. On the LeTort I have been moving trout with streamers and then rising trout have been falling for terrestrials. The Yellow Breeches is still fishable. Especially the lower end, below Mt. Holly, start early in the morning and keep and eye on the water temperature. The upper end is still cool, but you still have to watch that water temperature. Big Springs is fishing well also. I’ve been moving them with nymphs, terrestrials and there seems to be a sparce amount of Tricos hatching. Further away, Spring Creek is seeing a lot of very nice Trico activity and cold enough to fish. Smallmouth on the Juniata has been pretty good as well. I have changed two of my specials and like all my specials these flies have been taking trout each day I’m on the stream. LeTort 7/18/20 I have not been out much because of this relentless heat wave. The spring creeks are very much fishable just gets way too hot by 1pm. John and Steve met me at 8am and we were going to fish all day but decided to quit at noon. The LeTort was clear and 53 degrees. Noting was hatching but we did see a few trout sipping terrestrials. John and Steve wanted to see my techniques that get these wary trout to come out of their crafty hiding places. So I showed the...m my streamer techniques and it was game on. John missed one and moved another. Steve moved one. Midway through the morning John gave me an amazing complement. John said, Mike, with what you have taught us, I feel I have a chance to take a trout on every good placed cast with streamers! Thank you John for that. We ended the morning on a few rising trout. Steve hooked into a very nice 17 brown. It immediately shot like a bullet into a log jam and popped Steve off. They both had a great time and learned so much. See more

Solarez!! Best way to finish your flies. Cures in less than 10 seconds. Also when tying spinner wings made of krystalflash or poly yarn hit that with some Bone dry. That wing going nowhere!!r

Fished with Ken for about five hours. Ken wanted reacquainted with the upper Falling Springs. For this who say there no trout out there well there out there. Just have to work for them. May not be big ones like past years, but plenty of trout. It was a windy mostly cloudy day. Water was 53 and clear. Noting was hatching, but some trout were rising to terrestrials. We fished combo nymphs and then dry droppers. My gray simple shrimp tore them up. Had two take a cricket and one take a pink San Juan. Ken landed 12 and lost 6. All again on my shrimp. That was not a good day, great day, but amazing fishing. Fine effort Ken. Glad to get on the water again after so many years.

Took Fisher to the Yellow Breeches- 9am till 2. I told him from the start "Dad" was playing guide for a while. The water was clear and low. It was hot and sunny. Nothing really hatching but we found trout going nuts for terrestrials. I wanted to work on his dry fly casting. It took a little coaching but he is now a part of the fraternity. I land two browns, missed 4. Fisher missed 5 and landed 4. I could not be more proud!!

Great day with Steve. Fished all day on the Conococheague. We found no easy trout. They were very picky. Sever got several nice brown trout and four the hour we fished for native brook trout they were taking as well. Very good day.

I was guiding today. I want to that Precision Fly fishing and Tackle They knew he was coming up to buy a new bait caster. A new rod and his first catch was a 4lb. Pickerel. Best shop!!!
