The Monongahela Woman’s Club is privileged to highlight two area women who have dedicated their efforts to improving the lives of women and the community through elected office. Diana Irey Vaughan, elected in 1995, is the longest serving Commissioner, now serving her seventh term of office, and is the only woman to have ever served in this position in Washington County. The Monongahela Woman’s Club honors her as a past president our organization, 1992 to 1994. In addition ...to elected office, Diana volunteers her time in the Washington Correctional Facility working with female inmates in a re-entry program. This commitment to the needs of women, as well as countless hours she spends in community involvement, in addition to her elected office of county commissioner are why Diana Irey Vaughn has been chosen as one of the outstanding women of our area for the month of March. Senator Camera Bartolotta , another longtime resident of Monongahela, was elected to her first term representing the 46th Senatorial District of Pennsylvania in 2014. During the time in the Senate, Camera has authored many new laws, including measures to protect women by helping judges to keep the most dangerous domestic offenders behind bars and relocate their families to safer conditions. Camera also serves on the PA Commission for Women in the Workplace Development Board. Camera’s leadership in areas directly affecting the lives of women, her support and involvement in the community, in addition to serving in the Pennsylvania Senate make Camera one of the outstanding women of our area for the month of March. Both of these remarkable women have contributed to women in too many numerous ways to recount. It is with deep respect for their efforts that we are honored to spotlight them this month.

The MWC has been very active in the community during this difficult time. In addition to this donation of masks, recently we were able to contribute to Ringgold North Elementary when it requested new clothing items for their Ringgold Care Closet. It is an honor to help where needed.
