As we head into the final hours of #GiveLocalYork, we wanted to share A FORMER MONTESSORI PARENT'S THOUGHTS ON... ...Why she chose our school for her daughters: We were familiar with the Montessori curriculum and thrilled to see one so close to our home. After visiting the first time, we knew it was the right choice for our children. One observation of the classroom is all it took to know it was the right choice for our children. Children are given the opportunity to advance at their own pace and are challenged educationally. Most importantly they learn to love the process! All of the staff truly love what they do. They are passionate about the Montessori curriculum and truly care about each and every student and their success from day 1. ...What she loves about the school: Our children learned to 'love to learn' from the very beginning and were taught to be independently driven. Our children felt safe and challenged. They were given the opportunity to learn in an environment that is unlike any other preschool environment in York County. The children learn to work independently, in pairs, and in small groups. The environment is very carefully thought out. It is clean, organized, challenging, peaceful, and safe. The freedom of choice that the children have in their work allows them to enjoy the process and find their love of learning. They learn to be productive and take pride in ALL of their work. ...The benefits for her own children: Our children love to learn and are independently driven. Montessori fostered the love of learning in our children. Our daughters take pride in their work and have a strong work ethic. The foundation that they received at Montessori was well worth the financial sacrifice. [When they moved into public school] it was a very smooth transition for both of them. Montessori prepared them educationally and socially. A firm foundation is priceless, and Montessori provided that for our children. It will forever be a part of them. We are so grateful to all of the teachers and mentors that they had during their time at Montessori. The Montessori Children’s House of York will always be a very special place to our entire family.
