Today, May 6th is NATIONAL NURSES DAY! Thank you to Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community entire nursing staff! You persevered and were strong in the face of... a difficult year! You continue to show compassion and resilience! Each of you remind me of our dear Evaleen - a current resident at Mt. Hope. Evaleen was a nurse during the Polio outbreak in the 1940’s. Evaleen recalled, Everyone was dedicated to take care of those who had Polio. I was not afraid to get Polio. I had no fear... I knew I would do the right thing to help someone who was sick. Just as Evaleen’s care and dedication as a nurse was evident- it’s also what so many see in each of you! Thank you for being YOU. You are loved! It’s also the NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER today....in my mind that’s not a coincidence! Let’s remember to uphold our nurses in prayer today and always!

WOW!!! East Fairview Church you have gone above and beyond! Thanks for stepping in and blessing each one of our residents with Christmas Care Packages this season! We needed a second vehicle to transport all of the gifts. These Christmas gifts will be handed out the week of Christmas at mini parties. It's beginning to look quite festive around Mt. Hope. Thank you to each family that "adopted" a resident and purchased several gifts for each one. You are an amazing congregation with a huge heart!

It's the season for giving! A special SHOUT OUT to the Bible Study group at St. Edward's Episcopal Church and to Joyce Kamm for coordinating this wonderful expression of care for our residents. This group went together and purchased warm, fleecy socks for each of our residents- complete with medical grade grippers on the bottom of each sock! These socks are so cool and a great gift that will add some Christmas cheer for our seniors. Thank you for taking the time to share a blessing with us! Shhhhh, don't tell our residents, it's a surprise for the week of Christmas

Here's a HUGE thank you to Ruhl's Church sewing group in Manheim and Steph Heisey for coordinating this project! This group blessed some of our seniors with "fidget lap blankets". These blankets are beautiful original designs and handsewn with fine detail! The fidget blankets are a special gift and a wonderful way to bless our seniors! Thanks for sharing your sewing talent. You are appreciated!

WOW!! What an amazing night on Wed. 10/7! THANK YOU, MBIC. We are grateful for your creativity, care, and generosity for our community. Mt. Hope is so thankful that you chose us, the local 4H and FFA to receive the donations brought in from 3,750 milkshakes (made in 3 hours -WOW) during the parade! MBIC Milkshakes ROCK!

I have been hearing wonderful comments about the pork BBQ we served on Tues., 9/29. It really was very good and cooked to perfection! My mom would often say a food like that has a more taste. So, you are in luck! LCBC- Manheim Campus is hosting Peter’s BBQ food trailer as a fundraiser for Mt. Hope on Fri., 10/9 from 3:30-6 PM.
