I found myself at the podium a good bit today. Proud to share the accomplishments of GO Laurel Highlands on both occasions. This morning, we held the ribbon c...utting for the Airport Visual Enhancement project. Thank you to Sean Kertes Westmoreland County Commissioner, Gina Cerilli Thrasher, Esq. Westmoreland County Commissioner, and Commissioner Doug Chew for entrusting our organization with this impactful project that will serve as a warm welcome to our county & region, as well as create a sense of pride for our local residents. Welcome from the Beallsville Borough Holiday Lights Committee. Every year for many years now Beallsville has provided a beautiful display of Holiday Lights for ...its residents, the people whom work or visit here and the people that travel through. However, as the years go by we are losing the color in our lights, lights have quit working or been destroyed, and we have an electrical system that is in need of some repair. The holiday lights are plugged in and checked before we hang them each year. We have slowly been losing color as the last time bulbs were purchased, before the formation of the committee, they were all clear. Burnt out bulbs have only been replaced with clear ones, not color. Sadly we also lose entire lights that no longer light up when plugged in. Over the years we lost some lights due to damage from the well trucks and wide loads that have run through our community. At their age they are truly becoming rustier and harder to get in and out of the equally as rusty brackets that hold them to the poles. The paint has been slowly flaking off due to rust. We also have poles that have been and are being replaced. Meaning the electrical boxes and brackets the lights are plugged into need to be moved to a new pole. In some areas the electrical boxes we plug these lights into need replaced simply due to their age. All of this comes at a cost. We have set a price limit of $500.00 each for brand new colorful LED holiday lights. There are 50 throughout the borough that need replaced. These new lights will replace the current ones that are well over 20 years old plus replace the damaged and non working ones. Our main goal is to keep Beallsville shining beautifully during the holiday season to continue to bring joy for many more years.

We're offering a new Winter Walk! Discover the natural beauty of Fallingwater and its natural winter landscape at your own pace. "Exploring Fallingwater with l...imited people on site and often a dusting of frost or snow on the ground, allows one the opportunity for intimate interactions with the architecture and this beautiful mountain landscape, says Fallingwater Director and Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Vice President Justin Gunther. Visitors can explore the exterior of the house, including terraces, and view some outside sculptures. Two wooded trails that begin on the Fallingwater grounds provide hikers with spectacular views of WPC’s Bear Run Nature Reserve and the Youghiogheny River Gorge. Reservations are necessary: bit.ly/2Yl70Mi. #winterwalk #winterhike #LaurelHighlands
Pictures from Fayette County, long in the past. One thing in the area then definitely has in common with today - there are a lot of hard working people!

In January, Greater Washington County Food Bank partnered with Emerald Valley Artisans to purchase locally-sourced Mixed Dairy Boxes utilizing Pennsylvania Agri...cultural Surplus System (PASS) funds. These boxes help the Food Bank achieve their goal of working with Washington County producers to help their neighbors in need. Alisa Fasnacht of Emerald Valley Artisans shared, I’m a farmer and I want to connect farmers and the food they produce with people who need it. It’s a program where everyone wins. Farmers have a market and consumers get fresh, nutritious food they need.
