Update on Amanda Mae/Journey. Unfortunately the two possible foster homes we had for her did not work out. She is temporarily staying with one of our voluntee...rs. Amanda Mae is looking for a foster home or adopter. She is great with dogs, kids, and cats. She will need to be lifted in and out of the crate, cars, and outside. She weighs 60lbs. So her family would need to be able to accommodate that. She is completely house trained and does well in the crate. She does not have use of her back legs at all, so she will need help with everything. She is not a fan of the wheels she had, she rather scoot around. She is the most lovable dog and she is so friendly. If you can help this sweet girl please fill out the foster application https://www.speranzarescue.org/foster

To our valued clients: We are excited to announce that we will be opening our doors to clients as of June 1st, 2021. This means we will allow you in the building but still with some restrictions. Please read: 1. We will allow no more than 2 clients in with your pet(s) during your appointment time. For euthanasia appointments, we can allow more than 2 people, but is up to the discretion of the doctor on staff that day.... 2. We kindly ask that anyone entering the building wear a mask. We understand that masks are no longer required for fully vaccinated adults, but to protect our staff members who are high-risk, this is our office preference. We will still offer curbside service for anyone who would prefer that, and/or families with small children that cannot wait in the car. Again, our mask policy is up to the discretion of the doctor that is working the day of your appointment. 3. If our waiting room is at capacity, we may ask you to step outside and wait until there is room for everyone to appropriately social distance. As always, we would like to thank our clients who have continued to be patient, understanding, and kind over the past year. We can’t wait to see you face to face again.

May is Lyme Disease Prevention Month. Lyme Disease is very prevalent in our area! We recommend keeping your pet on tick prevention year round, as well as keeping them up to date on their Lyme vaccine.

We have received a few phone calls over the last few weeks regarding the recent claims against Seresto flea and tick collars. While we do not sell this product at our hospital, we know many of our patients use these collars and we would like to take a moment to discuss a few things: 1. Counterfeit products are out there, especially for over the counter products such as Seresto. It is nearly impossible to tell the difference between the real product and the fake ones. Please b...e very careful in paying attention to what you purchase - if the product is much less expensive than others, it is probably counterfeit. We are seeing many of these counterfeit products being purchased online at Amazon, eBay, and even Facebook marketplace. We recommend purchasing flea and tick products from a veterinary hospital or reputable online pharmacy. 2. No medications are without risk. Any type of flea & tick preventative has potential for reaction, and these medications can lower the seizure threshold. All flea & tick medications have the potential to increase seizure activity in epileptic patients. Just like humans taking medications, adverse reactions can happen. All of our recommendations are based on the benefit for your pet outweighing potential risks, as well as what fits your pet’s needs. Reducing flea and tick disease occurrence is very important! If your pet is currently using Seresto and you have concerns about continuing, feel free to call us and we can discuss alternative options for flea and tick prevention.
