Dear Friends, We couldn't be happier to share the news that our community partner and theatre home is scheduled for renovations! This revitalization will breathe new life into our favorite space, and will provide more and better accessibility for you, our dear patrons. If you have attended our shows, you are aware of some of the challenges the current arrangement poses. We hope you will join us in supporting these changes by participating in this Adopt-a-Seat campaign. He...re are highlights of the plans and program: -A new hardwood floor -New roomier, vintage-style seats on the first floor -An outside wheelchair lift -A fully accessible first-floor restroom -A new coat of paint -A sprinkler system in the auditorium During this nearly $600,000 project, the theatre will be completely closed with the goal of reopening on December 1, 2021. Additional phases will follow in the coming years. While plans are progressing ahead for this renovation to kick off in August, we are still short of funds. If we do not raise at least $100,000, renovations cannot begin. We need your help. To raise additional money for the renovations, an Adopt-a-Seat program will run through July 31. By adopting a seat, you will help fund the overall renovation and have the opportunity to place your name or business, a short message or sentiment, or the name of another person you wish to honor or memorialize engraved on a plaque placed on a seat. CLICK HERE TO ADOPT-A-SEAT*: https://www.thenewtowntheatre.com/adopt-a-seat (*Please let the theatre know you are a Newtown Arts Company patron) Here is a message about the renovations from theatre manager Andy Smith: https://youtu.be/77IMRhpKT_g Both Newtown Arts Company and Newtown Theatre are grateful for the community support throughout this pandemic. We are looking forward to joining forces to bring back live theater to our community, hopefully by the end of the year.

Audition Notice! Deadline extended to Friday, April 30th!!!! In June we will be sharing the virtual stage with our friends from the south (Maryland to be precise) as we pair with The Newtowne Players for a "Miscast Cabaret". We have room for 10 performances by NAC members over the age of 16 (two members singing a duet is still only counted as one performance). We are looking for Broadway style musical performances that you'd never be cast in for whatever reason (maybe you...'ve reached your golden age but you've always wanted to play Annie). Interested performers need to complete this form. You may submit up to two full-length, production-ready videos in the following categories: solo up-tempo, solo ballad, and/or duet. Full submission guidelines are on the form. https://docs.google.com//1gOMgI79VN5RGgSHyePXluh/viewform Please send any questions to [email protected]

Tune in tonight at 8 to enjoy Newtown Arts Company's virtual Miscast Cabaret in collaboration with The Newtowne Players in Lexington Park, Maryland. Simply click the link, then ring the "reminder" bell to be notified when the show is about to begin. The "miscast" theme means that our performers will be singing some Broadway favorites from roles they'd never be able to play for whatever reason. We like to think of it as "Right singer, wrong song!" Please enjoy tonight's performance and consider donating to Newtown Arts Company to support local theatre (link in the comments). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0u71N5baRE
