The Langhorne Women's Centennial Committee and Langhorne Council for the Arts invite women and girls of all ages to join the Women's Brigade as we march in the 2021 Langhorne Memorial Parade on Monday, May 31, 2021! 2020 was the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote. The pandemic put our year-long schedule of celebratory events on hold until NOW! Time: 10:00 am... Place: Jesse Soby American Legion Post, West Richardson Avenue. Langhorne, PA 19047 NOTE: In the Marches on Washington in 1913 and 1917, women wore white dresses, skirts, and blouses, showing they were educated [college gowns] and newspapers only printed in B&W so olive, brown & black would not show up. To honor those brave and determined women, we are encouraging members of our brigade to wear white (dresses, pants, shorts, tops -- whatever you have). Fancy hats and sashes are welcomed! Bring your mothers, sisters, daughters, and girlfriends to join our brigade to honor the generations of women who fought for the rights we have today! Please email [email protected] to sign up! #WEShowUp #ProudtobeNFT

It has come to light that a student at Maple Point Middle School was the target of a racist barrage of texts and social media messages. We strongly condemn these hateful actions. We admire the courage of the victim and their family to speak out and unveil this hatred. They put their pain and trauma on display not for us to turn away but to lean into discomfort and act to support the victim and keep these types of episodes from happening again. The Neshaminy Federation of Tea...chers believes unequivocally that every child in the Neshaminy School Districtand in all districts--deserves to feel safe and welcome in their learning environment. While we want to believe our children know better than to express hate, the truth is, explicit conversations need to be had with children of all ages about race and bias. Teaching a child to be kind is a great start. But we must do more and do better for the people of color in our community. We commend the teachers, school administrators, and local police for their attention and swift action to ensure the safety of the victim and their family. We look forward to working with the District to help ensure no students are subject to this type of vile abuse in the future. The NFT has a newly formed social justice committee that would love to turn our above thoughts into actions. We encourage our members to join this committee in order to examine our own biases and how that can impact our teaching and classroom culture. We cannot ask our students to be better if we are not willing to put in the work ourselves. Members will find more information about this committee in our next email blast. The NFT CARES about the environment and we can support our kids with this great project! Go through your closets and gather any shoes that you no longer wear. If they’re in good shape, they will be donated to a non-profit organization to resell, if not, they will be recycled. In both instances, our high school music program gets a cash donation and you get to buy more Contact Suzi Drake or Kerry Goszyk Hammon if you can’t make it to one of the drop off times listed below. #nftcares #nftproud #wecareabouttheenvironment

The NFT Cares About the Environment all year long, but especially during April when we celebrate Earth Day! This month, take a minute to analyze your trash and see what can be reused or recycled. Most municipalities only recycle limited items, but you can get around that by sending your hard to recycle items to the "Bring Us Your Trash Event" below. The Bucks Upcycling and Repurposing group is working with a Terra Cycle to collect hundreds of items that might otherwise end ...up in landfills. Check out what you can recycle by clicking on the event below. If you need help transporting the items to the collection site, contact the NFT and we will take care of it for you! #NFTcares #NFTproud #wecareabouttheenvironment

Over the past year, Neshaminy Educators have pulled together to support our students, families and each other. On Saturday night, a serious accident changed the lives of four girls from Neshaminy High School. The girls are in critical condition and need the support of their teachers, nurses and counselors more than ever. Please keep our Neshaminy students, their families and friends in your thoughts and daily prayers as they reach out for strength, love and support in the co...ming days, weeks and months. The girls will have a long road to recovery and could use the support of our entire Neshaminy community. The couple who was first on the scene started a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses and several local businesses are sponsoring fundraisers to support the girls https://gofund.me/c962bba0 The Sandwich Club Langhorne is donating 20% of all sales on March 31st to the girls. In addition, Top Knotch Salon will be donating 20% of ALL sales including hair services, gift cards, retail, etc. through April 3rd to the GoFundMe. Please post links to any other local businesses who are sponsoring fundraisers.
