There are a lot of things that sets Pathways to Housing PA apart from other organizations trying to bring an end to homelessness. The biggest one is that we utilize an evidence-based practice: the Housing First model. Especially in many neighborhoods in Philadelphia, there’s certain long-term residents who are at risk of being displaced as their communities become too expensive, she said. The city of Philadelphia is launching a total of seventeen satellite election offices, where people can register to vote, apply to get a mail ballot, and submit their ballot all in one trip. This increased access is huge in battling voter disenfranchisement, especially for our Pathways' participants who may struggle with logistical barriers to participation. Systemic disadvantages have contributed to countless discriminatory practices that have led to a disproportionate number of people of color and members of the LGBTQ community experiencing poverty, homelessness, unemployment, and whole host of other issues. Correcting generations of systemic discrimination will take a long time, and it will be hard work. Today is National Voter Registration Day! Spend some time today doing things to make sure everyone has their voice heard on election day. Check your registration status, and request your mail in ballot over at the National Voter Registration Day website (https://nationalvoterregistrationday.org). Don’t forget to remind a friend or close family member to register or check on their status. A few other ways to help, would be to sign up for phone or text banking, and write voter registration reminder letters through Vote Forward. Whatever you do, make sure you’re ready for November 3rd. Your voice matters.

Self confidence is a struggle for most of us. Appearance plays heavily into self esteem, and the desire to fit in and just look like everyone else is especially strong for folks who have had injuries that affect their appearance. Some turn to cosmetic surgery for a boost to their self esteem, though not everyone has the means or the opportunity to make that happen.
