Last night, a few of our members volunteered with other APhA-ASP operations at The Franklin Institute’s community night! We had a great time talking to people and even got to explore the museum ourselves! A huge thank you to Melissa for organizing this amazing event for all of our operations!
Last night, PCP APhA-ASP, PSP and the Substance Use Disorders Institute held a panel discussion with various healthcare providers! Ever wonder what a naloxone prescription ACTUALLY looks like? Well, with the help of the PA Physician General Rachel Levine and her standing order, you can find out for yourself! Walk up to any pharmacy stocking naloxone and ask for some! Today, some students from our team encouraged a few community members to get naloxone, and after educating them, they did! So what are you waiting for?
Today, some members of our team went to Walgreens on Broad Street to speak to patients about the importance of naloxone! This project will continue over the next few weeks - so stay tuned so see where we end up next! Great work today guys!

This week in Practice Lab and Case Studies, P3 students were (and will be) trained in how to recognize the signs of an overdose and use naloxone! Today, they put their skills to the test with a simulation of a patient who had overdosed. This group of P3’s did a great job of reviving their patient!
Today during APhA-ASP’s 3rd general meeting, we were fortunate enough to hear from Dr. Jake Nichols! He spoke about his experiences throughout pharmacy school and as a pharmacist who has struggled with addiction. Currently, Dr. Nichols specializes in addiction medicine, specifically in medication treatment options for opioid dependency, and does talks like this all the time! We are so thankful that he took the time out of his busy schedule to come speak to us and we can’t wait to hear from him again soon!
This morning, our GenRx team attended the Inter-School Collaboration & Overdose Revival Training, hosted by Drexel College of Medicine! On Saturday October 7th, APhA-ASP Generation Rx attended the Haddon Heights fall fest! Here, we were able to educate younger members of our community about how similar medications and candy can be and how it can be dangerous. In addition, we also educated community members about the importance of naloxone, how to use it, and how it is able to save lives. Overall, we had a great day!
Come out to our FIRST general body meeting of the semester THIS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5th! We hope to see you there!
