Pennsylvania is a national leader in tick bites and Lyme disease. Check out this great Frontier Group post on the connection between this growing problem and #ClimateChange.

New research confirms that pollution is a major contributor to Western PA's high cancer rates. Residents deserve #CleanAirNOW. It's time to rein in the #ToxicTen.

Our friends at PennPIRG are right. Electrifying our homes, offices, and other buildings is essential for ditching #FossilFuels and tackling #ClimateChange.

As President Biden and leaders in congress push for ambitious climate action, they should look to the Affordable Care act as both a blueprint and a cautionary tale. Check out our op-ed in the Washington Post!

We can fill our communities with the native plants that not only beautify our blocks and yards, but support the pollinators we need, like bees & butterflies. This piece from Green Philly has some native plants from our region to try out in your garden

The most eco-friendly clothes are ones that don't have to be made in the first place! Companies overproduce clothes and then send them to landfills and incinerators before they are ever worn. Check out this great blog post from our friends over at U.S. PIRG #WasteIsOutOfFashion

Join us for our first virtual volunteer meeting of the New Year 1/27 6-7pm! We need your help to build support for policies that will protect our environment and health -- from preventing the worst impacts of climate change, to eliminating single-use plastic waste. Whether you are interested in getting involved for the first time or have been volunteering with us for a while, we hope to see you there!

Great to see Monessen joining the PA towns & municipalities working to #ActOnClimate! The climate crisis requires everyone -- from rural industrial counties to big cities -- to get on board and cut greenhouse gas emissions. We hope more and more municipalities will follow suit and find ways to reduce their impact.

Around the world, the equivalent of one dump truck filled with clothing and other textiles is sent to a landfill or incinerator every second. State and local governments must take action to ensure that this problem does not continue to grow. Tell them to take action to stop fashion waste from ending up in landfills! #WasteIsOutOfFashion

Hundreds of children in Pittsburgh are still poisoned by lead each year. There's no safe level of lead -- and it's everywhere: paint, dust, soil, and drinking water. But we can stop our kids from getting sick with lead poisoning through simple, local policy change. Tell Pittsburgh City Council that you want a Lead Safety Law that would identify and prevent lead hazards in homes and daycare centers, and make sure renovations and demolitions don't kick up toxic paint and dust ...that hurts our kids' health. Visit the link below to take action! #GetTheLeadOutPgh

We're on pace to throw 100 million tons of plastic waste into our rivers and oceans per year. To stop this plastic avalanche, we need to ban single use plastics and end the fracking-to-plastic pipeline.

PennEnvironment 08.09.2020

The more researchers study fracking, the clearer it becomes that this dirty process is killing us. Fracking waste is a radioactive nightmare and it's being discharged untreated into our waterways (not to mention polluting our air). Our leaders in Harrisburg shouldn't let gas and oil companies risk our lives. #DontFrackPa

We fully support Philly Thrive and the amazing work they do to stand up for South Philly residents, and the whole city, in fighting for our #RightToBreathe. The PES Refinery site poisoned our communities for far too long- it's time that neighborhood residents get a say in how the site is redeveloped and used. Check out Philly Thrive's campaign launch below for their comprehensive, community-informed vision for the future of the PES Refinery site, and how you can get involved in this inspiring movement!

There is no safe level of lead exposure. But hundreds of kids in Pittsburgh are identified with elevated blood lead levels each year. That's why we're working with Get the Lead Out, Pittsburgh, to keep our kids safe from harmful lead in paint, dust, soil and water. Sign your name now at http://bit.ly/GLTOLetter to ask Pittsburgh City Council to enact a Pittsburgh Lead Safety Law and protect our children from lead poisoning.

"Imagine how I felt when I learned that something I'm doing for my health [walking] could actually be dangerous!" Thanks for writing this letter, Gaye -- we all deserve clean air to breathe. But our air won't be clean while major industrial polluters are operating on an expired permit or haven't been issued one in the first place. That's why we're calling on County Executive Rich Fitzgerald to close the permit backlog by the end of 2021. #CleanAirNow

You know things are getting bad when experts need to coin new terms to classify the increasingly dangerous and damaging effects of the #ClimateCrisis..
